Republican Gov. Greg Abbott (Texas) is in a virtual tie with Democrat Beto O'Rourke in a new poll released Monday that surveys voters on a possible gubernatorial race between the two.

O'Rourke is flirting with running for governor in an election that would take place one year from now.

The poll conducted by the Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation (TxHPF) found that 44 percent of voters are in favor of Abbott remaining as governor of Texas while 43 percent are in favor of O'Rourke becoming governor. The remainder of respondents said they were either unsure or wanted a minor party candidate to be governor.

That shows how effective the demographic change strategy caused by immigration is for the Dems. Texas was solid red ..what? Just 10-20 years ago?

It’s the number one (or should be) long term political priority of the right. If we don’t get a sensible limited-merit based immigration policy the right will eventually be swallowed up. We will cease to exist as a political force or have to adopt socialistic habits like the left.

Mark my words…..

I’m leery of the gov sometimes but have no doubt in a fair race he would beat Beto the beta.
Would it be a fair race? That’s a coin toss at this point.

Phony Beto is just like Abortion Barbie, beloved by the Media, the Left and the polls but miserable losers every time the voters actually get to say something.

Beg to differ. Those were NOT Texas women; only transplanted persons with roots begun elsewhere.

Not that our current Governor is so great, he does make an
effort most of the time. Beto, nothing to crow about!

Texas is purple at best due to the cities of Houston, Dallas/Ft worth San Antonio, Austin and So Paso all being deep blue with a fast growing population in all of those cities. That and Abbott is universally hated by a lot on the right. The Ercot fiasco cost him big time.

Texas has 25 million people. DFW has 6, Houston has 6, Austin 2 , San Antonio 1.5 el Paso another 2 all of those cities are deep blue , rural Texas is red but they are swamped by the growing cities full of imports from CA,NY,NJ, MA I see more and more of those licence plates every day in DFW.

Yea that is scary, but the liberal media ALWAYS begins their deceptive propaganda campaigns leading up to elections.

They will beat this drum constantly.

Utterly laughable. Reminds me of the polls that had Abortion Barbie tied. She would up getting killed by something like 15 points.

That's a bold face lie that keeps getting repeated here. Beto beat Cruz with native Texans 51-48%, while Cruz beat Beto with transplanted Texans 57-42%, which my wife and I were at the time of that election.
