Manchin calls Biden's $1.75 trillion spending proposal a "shell game"

Key Democratic Senator Joe Manchin is demanding more time to get "clarity" on the economic impact of the social spending package put forward by President Biden and other Democrats. In remarks to reporters on Monday, Manchin blasted House progressives for holding the bipartisan infrastructure bill hostage.

"As more of the real details outlined in the basic framework are released, what I see are shell games, budget gimmicks that make the real cost of the so-called $1.75 trillion bill estimated to be almost twice that amount, if the full time is run out, if you extended it permanently," Manchin told reporters Monday afternoon. "And that we haven't even spoken about. This is a recipe for economic crisis."

Manchin, who has all along expressed concerns over spending, increasing the debt, and inflation, reiterated those concerns Monday. He took no questions.

I haven't heard much from the GOP senators either. This simply cannot pass.

That’s the trick....Once a program is started....there’s really no way to do away with it and the government is back at the trough.

That’s why they ALL need sunset provisions, every time a program is started, not just when the pubs remember to sneak one in.

No. Manchin just realized the House Progressives double-crossed him. He was willing to compromise up to $1.75T just as long as there were no games or budget gimmicks.

He's already said he's willing to sit back and let everything implode. If he caves I'll eat my laundry.

I remember something that Biden said about a week ago. “What we don’t get now, we’ll get next time”.

I haven't heard much from the GOP senators either. This simply cannot pass.

That's because 19 of them already voted for the fake infrastructure bill.

Pretty sad that were putting all our hopes on 2 Democrat Senators.

"Boy Democrats have to be really demoralized by this."

Oh Joe will declare victory and vote for a skinny bill that sets the bureaucracy for these programs in motion, and we all know bureaucracy never dies. Kabuki theater at its best.

Well that's what happens when city people ridicule West Virginians. He owes nothing to the New York and San Francisco elites. Nothing.

My question is why scum like Sasse and Murkowski et all quietly just go along with the Democrat plans? Manchin and Rand Paul have more balls than McConnell and his Republican butt boys put together.
