WASHINGTON (AP) — The federal government will require companies with at least 100 workers to provide paid time off for employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and paid sick leave to recover from effects of the shots, a Biden administration official said Monday.
Those requirements will be part of a pending federal rule that will spell out how large employers will meet a requirement that workers be vaccinated or tested regularly for the virus.
The White House budget office has completed its review of the rule being written by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which is expected to be released this week.
The rule – issued under emergency standards to respond to the pandemic -- will cover firms with 100 or more employees, regardless of how many are located in any particular spot.
“Covered employers must develop, implement, and enforce a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, unless they adopt a policy requiring employees to choose either to get vaccinated or to undergo regular COVID-19 testing and wear a face covering at work,” a Labor Department spokesperson said Monday. The rule “also requires employers to provide paid time to workers to get vaccinated and paid sick leave to recover from any side effects.”

Strategic timing. Waited until many companies implemented a vaccine requirement for employment, then foisted some of the cost of doing so right back on the companies.
As we slouch further into fascism...
I am unable to find this implied labor dept ‘authority’ anywhere in the constitution. Tell ‘em to pound sand. When you don’t stand up to bullies and bloody their nose, the bullying just gets worse.
Cancun Boosters.
I agree...they have NO authority for any such demand. Of course the corps will go along anyway. Long gone are the JD Rockerfeller types that would stand up to them. Almost every large firm is now under the control of over paid management types who care little of what the stockholders want. Maybe Musk will tell the to GFY.
I want time and a half for brushing my teeth and double time for doing the dishes.
Does that include FUNERAL COSTS?
Hmmm. Wondering what law was passed that gave the Prexident this power.
Ain’t going to work. What a joke.
And so the government gains MORE control over businesses, and the power to tell them how to run their business, which was the original intent of all this garbage.
And what if you're permanently disabled? Is the company supposed to pay sick leave for life or do you end up on SS disability?
The National Labor Relations Board ruled quite a while ago that companies had to reimburse employees injured by mandatory vaccines. Now the Biden administration is trying to take credit for the ruling.
Another tax without legislation.
Confiscation of revenue. Sick leave paid by the employer for a cause mandated by the giverment? The giverment paying for it would not matter either. The giverment does not produce anything, the only money the giverment has is the money it takes from people who have produced something for gain.
By what authority can the giverment do this other than Tyranny if not by legislation?
Why not mandate, which is the same thing as DEEM, full time paid time off?
What if they die, paid time off ends with death? Or, like Democrat voting, they get paid forever as well?
Then your son has the makings of a good union man — which is where this proposal probably comes from. The unions attach a price tag to everything. An employer says you have to be vaccinated? Pay me. And in this administration, all they have to do is whisper into the ear of someone in the junta, and it turns into a rule.
My company offered 8 hours of PTO to get the shot...
No thanks... I can deal without an extra day off and not have to suffer with myocarditis or some other nastier side effect.
