Trump: I Could Get Gas Down to $2.00 or $2.50 a Gallon — ‘It’s Going to Be over $10.00’

Former President Donald Trump was very critical of the inflationary trend under the Biden administration during an interview with FNC’s Jeanine Pirro.

During the interview that aired on Saturday evening, Trump said he could get average prices down significantly but predicted prices could head north of $10 a gallon \ .Partial transcript as follows:

PIRRO: Now, the prices of beef are up 17.6%. The average American family is spending an extra $175.00 a month. Gas prices are up to $7.00 in California, $5.00 dollars in New York. We can’t afford — these people.

And Joe Biden, when he was asked about gas prices, what he’s going to do about it, he says, “I don’t see anything that’s going to reduce — significantly reduce gas prices in the near future.”

TRUMP: Incredible.

PIRRO: He doesn’t know.

TRUMP: No, he doesn’t have any idea. Look, one of the things I was most proud of, our country became energy independent. We didn’t need the Middle East. We didn’t need Russia. We didn’t need anybody. We had our own — we had more than them.

We were number one by far over Saudi Arabia and you know this, and Russia. Number one by far. I had the pipelines going, Keystone XL pipeline. Amazingly, I ended the Russian pipeline. I was not good to Russia. I got along well with Russia, I got along well with Putin, but they weren’t happy with Trump. I can tell you that.

But Biden opened up this big massive pipeline all over Europe, but he closed down the XL, and I have to say, because you heard it a thousand times. More importantly, we’re energy independent no longer. I was so proud of that.

All that needs to happen is something that shuts down the Strait of Hormuz. That’s all it would take.

Even the emotional/feel good soccer moms would probably take a mean tweet and $2 gas about right now.
Just came south via of I-81.
When passing thru Scranton, PA, saw the following signs in this order:
“Scranton...President Joe Biden’s Hometown”
“President Joe Biden Expressway”
Pilot Truck Stop: “Diesel....$4.30/gal”
With this bunch of commie clowns in power, the jokes just continue to write themselves.

I was watching a recent youtube channel of a guy who was in California where he was traveling where gas was over $5 and calling the price insane. He then traveled to Dallas, Texas where it was $2.89

I do not see how the democrats can win any election except thru fraud and having the media lie for them endlessly.

In the 1st claim, hes right, he did once and can again bring gas back down to 2 bucks, maybe 2 fitty.

As for the 2nd claim, 10 bucks? I think he may be a little off. I have no doubt we’ll see $5 a gallon nationwide, 6 is certainly not out of the question. Right now it just went up again to $3.099 in east Texas, and I found one place still $2.839 on the way to the coast (Port Arthur) last week. Always get gas there, the cheapest spot on the trip.

I have to fill up again tomorrow, don’t think $30 will do it...9 months ago $20 would fill it with less than it has now. And I’d get change...

Not looking forward to filling the propane tank either...

The low prices in 2020 were due to demand destruction from the lockdowns and the massive fall off of vehicle miles driven due to the pandemic policies at the time. Had demand stayed the same 2020 prices would have been in the $2.30 range nation wide. The fall below $2 was 100% due to demand destruction from the pandemic. This is easily verifiable by looking at the total fuel consumed over that period vs the year before or the year before that. The dept of energy makes those numbers available freely should one look for them. The current run up in prices is largely due to the major oil producers not investing in New drilling leases nor actively drilling wells during the pandemic and now also investor’s seeing that big oil is no longer a solid return on investment so even less drilling will be funded. It’s a vicious cycle one that those of us who have been in the oil industry for decades are very familiar with. I have been in and out of the industry as a petroleum geologist for 20+ years. I also have done exploration, exploitation, operations and hydrogeology the industry is in a down cycle right now and will be for a few years get used to high prices $100 bbl is coming I would expect $120 to be the peak at those prices investor’s will flock back and supply will come online a year or so later.

It would be fitting beyond compare, if Trump took 2024 in a 300+ EV victory soley on energy prices.

Simply walk around everything that has come before and say, "I am returning to the White House to Make America Great Energy Affordable. #MAGEA

This was a Stanford study earlier this century. (Note that "2012" appears to have been a typo in the chart):
