The Supreme Court will soon reconsider the decision in Roe v. Wade (1973), which made abortion legal in America through all nine months of pregnancy. At that “point in the development of man’s knowledge,” as Justice Harry Blackmun put it in Roe, there was simply no consensus about when life begins. In other words, the fetus could not be said with any certainty to be alive and therefore wasn’t worthy of legal protection.
As a diagnostic radiologist—whose youngest patients are fetuses, who are very much alive—I submitted a friend-of-the-court brief in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization urging the justices to rethink Roe, a case premised on a claim about science. I was joined by two other female physicians, a neonatologist and an obstetrician, who also value their youngest patients, believing that whether inside their mothers or born, premature or full-term, they are worthy of respect and protection.
Ultrasound technology was in its infancy in the 1970s, when there was much more uncertainty about life before birth. The first ultrasound machines, introduced in 1958, were enormous, and the images were rudimentary. It was only in the later 1970s that fetal ultrasound became widely available, with increasingly detailed images of recognizably human babies. Black-and-white ultrasound images are now found on refrigerators of expectant parents across America. New three-dimensional images have put a human face on the person once dehumanized as a mere clump of cells.
Perfectly apparent now, to the justices sitting on today’s court as well as the public, are the liveliness and humanity of babies at 15 weeks of gestation—the age at which Mississippi proposes to protect them from elective termination.
Nestled within their mothers, these fetuses on average are 6.4 inches long and weigh 4.1 ounces. They have the proportions of a newborn—seemingly all head and rounded belly.

The year before Roe the Court was to have heard testimony based on science about the fact that the unborn are fully human babies, not just clumps of cells.
They didn’t care about the science then just as the baby killers do not care about the science now.
Abortion is legal because it removes barriers to having sex without consequences and far too many in this culture have elevated what people do with their genitalia to be the highest and best pursuit of happiness, almost alone exempt from the Left’s demand for “sensible” regulations on every aspect of live.
Actually saw some sick liberal at yahoo call an unborn fetus a “glioblastoma” if you can believe such people can speak such absurdity.

Democrats worship at the alter of abortion. The only rationale for this is they like complete control of life...over everyone. What better way than forcing everyone, especially Christians to bow before the idol of abortion? Forced to accept it. Forced to pay for it through insurance, Planned Parenthood and job benefits. Evil.

What passes for science these days is nothing more than a propaganda and a series of narratives to push for absolute control.
I truly believe the irrationality regarding abortion is because those who fail to see life in a fetus are more than likely demonically influenced or possessed.

Yes. And this comment by the writer ignores the fact that the Court had previously entertained testimony that the unborn were alive.
Is it really that even the highly educated are just so willfully ignorant, or even stupid because they are indoctrinated, that until they see an ultrasound and have their emotions engaged that they cannot see this?
… but sadly not even then in many cases….
It’s a pity some group had already claimed the name “Scientology” as the name for a cult because those who worship science and experts really deserve the use of it more.

I despise their virtue-signalling signs everywhere declaring “Science is Real”, while they BLATANTLY ignore obvious science that IS actually settled.
Settled: there are only ever 2 sexes in any species, at most. Not more.
Settled: people are born as male OR female. The only people with a problem are hermaphrodites, who do exist. But the problem is their genes say one, while the fetal development arrested and says another. They are not “changing” as the weirdoes are changing.
Settled: only females can be pregnant.
Settled: there is a baby in there who has a body extremely early.

It has been proven via the startle reflex to a loud sound that BABIES at 22 weeks can learn at least eighteen weeks before they exit the womb. When a loud sound was made it at first startled the BABIES and they jerked at hearing the sound. Then after rpeeated exposure tot he loud sound they stopped jerking in resp0onse as the sound became familiar to them.
If I am remembering correctly, one prominent female has saud she realizes the BABY is alive yet she still supports the wholesale slaughter as a woman’s right to choose ... murder for convenience is sacred to such dead souls, and GOD gives them ober to reprobate minds.
There was never any doubt. One look at premature babies answers the question “Is this a baby or a mass of cells?”
Fangtooth feminazis have caused the deaths of millions of little babies.
Hence why the pro baby killers want to block mothers from having to look at the ultrasound before they make the decision to kill their baby or let him or her live.
This ends the "have sex without consequences" lie.

Unfortunately people are not righteous, while too many are downright evil and don’t even realize it. They judge on a scale that insists they are nice and tolerant or even good (certainly not the really evil people … who always seems to include Nazis but not Communists) and, judging with themselves as the only measure, they now proclaim those not like them to be bad.
But I’m just old enough to recall that people would call others fascist merely for suggesting that folks have good morals, though I was too young at the time to really have wisdom to understand how those folks had elevated their sexual escapades to the be all end all of life.
