White Exec Who Sued for Reverse Discrimination Wins $10 Million Suit

A former top executive at a North Carolina-based health care system has won $10 million in a legal battle over his claim that he lost his job because he is a white man.

David Duvall, a former senior vice president of marketing and communication at Novant Health, was awarded the money by a federal jury in Charlotte on Tuesday.

In his lawsuit, Duvall had alleged that he was pushed out of his job without warning or explanation in July 2018 as the company tried to diversify top leadership positions.

Getting a jury to award it and collecting it will be two different matters. It will be appealed and tied up for years.

I agree. Any corporation with the ability to pay a settlement of this size has the resources to pay top drawer lawyers to appeal and drag the case out for years. Individuals usually don’t have the financial resources to fight in the courts for years.

Need to use the same tactic in many other areas where this type of discrimination happens.

This is happening in large corporations all over America. The large, multi-national bank I work for is refusing to promote WHITE MALES in Senior Management, and instead is going for "diversity, equity and inclusion."

Where's the inclusion when WHITE MALES are deliberately excluded?

Glad to see this lawsuit was won. More of this needs to happen.

In the end, a white male with lower title and pay is doing the real work while the race/gender token sits in the big office.

These illegal policies do provide some job security for real workers - just not the salary/title.

Yes, but if he has already won the award, a good attorney will fight hard for as much of that $10 million as he can get and defer payment until the actual payout. Still it will be a long, long battle.

In these types of cases, attorney fees are added on to the judgment. The company has no chance of winning an appeal, which will take less than one year and award interest on top of the verdict.

The real problem is here as younger white guys see no reason to push themselves; they’ll forego higher education and either make money in “manly work” (the trades) or low-skill jobs just enough to get by, with no goal of ever sharing that with a spouse or children. I rarely see white male applicants when I see openings, unless they are at a high enough level where you’ll pay big money for them.
