Santa Fe County went 71% Biden in the last election. In the past 24 hours, the "plinking" by the staff with the weapon Baldwin used to shoot Hutchins is filling the Corporate Media echo chamber. IMHO, this is messaging from leaks from the office of Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza and District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies. The plinkers will be the target of the criminal investigation, not Baldwin

“Special people” are never really held to account.

“… Baldwin in his role as actor appeared unlikely to be held criminally or civilly liable for the tragedy.…”
*************************************************************
Bull crap! He also has INDIVIDUAL liability for his instant actions while in the role of actor.

Prop guns cannot shoot projectiles.

To me it points to Baldwin not having control over his production.

I get it: Baldwn may get the OJ trestment. But there are living witnesses to what happened this time.

And isn’t Hulya’s husband a well-connected attorney himself? Two kids and and a mom taken away by a legendary Hollyweird hot-head? Will a jury in a county that went all-in for Biden really allow Baldwin that much unchecked privilege?

Baldwin has been in a lot of movies and TV shows. He knew or should have known that it was his responsibility to check that the firearm was unloaded when it came into his possession. He clearly did not check it. Therefore he was negligent. Period.

That would be unjust. The one who fires the gun is responsible for the effects of firing the gun.

Apparently angry, hate-filled SOBs who hate Trump get a free pass to kill.

Baldwin came out with an outburst against conservatives several years ago. I don’t remember the details.

The plinkers will be the target of the criminal investigation, not Baldwin.

You're probably right. Baldwin is a lefty, therefore "protected" from his own mistakes up to a stupendous level. He'll no-doubt get away with negligent homicide here.

They'll vilify who-ever used the firearm and returned it to the set without clearing it. That is all well and good, that person or persons made a serious mistake.

But they also need to realize that at least 3 other people made serious mistakes.

The armorer put it on a cart for use - without checking it.

The assistant director picked it up, announced it was a "cold gun" - without checking it.

Baldwin accepted it from the assistant director and used it - without checking it.

Of the 3 or 4 people involved in this chain of events/mistakes that led up to a fatal shooting I fault Mr. Baldwin the most, and the armorer a close second.

Mr. Baldwin is most at fault. If someone hands you a real firearm it is basic firearm safety to check it. Period. Even more so given that you intend to point it at someone - someone you don't actually want to shoot. You are going to intentionally violate a couple of the basic rules of firearm safety, so you had damn well better make sure you are following the others. It is inconceivable to me that he would pick up a firearm to point and shoot at someone without verifying two or three times - himself - that it was empty. I couldn't do it. I would have to check it two or three times, I'd then point it at the ground and dry fire it through probably 12 times, twice around the cylinder.

The armorer screwed up nearly as bad. They are supposed to be the professional on set. There is no excuse for her actions.

The assistant director I could almost forgive as having made a simple mistake - picking up a firearm and not checking it. You shouldn't, if you handle firearms and are at all trained you should know to check it. However, someone untrained, yes it is all too believable an untrained fool would pick up a firearm and assume its condition. However, announcing it was "cold" without actually having checked it is unforgivable.

My husband told me this morning that after the Brandon Lee shooting there were changes implemented re: the handling of firearms on set. The armorer shows the cleared gun to the director, then shows the cleared gun to the actor who will do the shooting and then finally, to the actor who is to be shot. Sure sounds as though none of that happened here.

Alec is running the set on the cheap, is the head honcho, pointed the gun at a person and didn’t check it. He’ll get off due to his last name. Anyone else would be looking at 20 years.

Carmack-Altwies told The Associated Press prior to the news conference that the investigation is still in its early stages — far from any decisions about whether or not to file criminal charges.

Still early

Criminal vs Civil liability are 2 different things.

Proving Baldwin, as an actor handling a prop gun at the direction of his boss pulled the trigger, is a hard sell for criminal charges for the death, at least not any serious charges.

I never expected him to face serious criminal charges, even if this happened in the reddest of red districts.

He was never going to face manslaughter or murder charges.

Civil court however, he almost certainly will be found to have some culpability, if the victims families sue.

People in the industry know Baldwin is a jerk, and ultimately responsible for pointing at her and cocking a gun he did not check….then pulling the trigger. Twice?

Did the scene call for shooting at the camera?

Be surprised if any of them work with him again.

I hope her family cleans him out .

Dave Halls, the Assistant Director, was canned from a gig just a couple of years ago after an accidental discharge. One would think he’d be downright anal about the situation. Go figure.

Since Kyle Rittenhouse is being tried for murder for defending himself from people trying to kill him and Derek Chauvin was convicted of murdering a guy who died from a drug overdose, I think it is entirely appropriate to charge Baldwin with first degree murder.
