House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) predicted Tuesday that a long-sought Democratic agreement on President Biden's domestic policy agenda is imminent, saying a deal could be announced as soon as Tuesday afternoon.
"The president's working very hard on this, and the Speaker's been working very hard on it," Hoyer said during a press call. "And so there's a lot of work that's been done and I think it could come together relatively quickly in the next few hours."
Such a timeline appears highly optimistic — some lawmakers said improbable — given the number of sticking points remaining as Democratic leaders race to secure a deal on a social spending package at the center of Biden's economic policy agenda.

Our system was a good design for quite awhile but it suffered from one fatal flaw: once citizens and elected officials realized they could tap the treasury for their own benefit it was game over. Corruption and greed now rule the day.

Here’s the problem: If they got the $3.5 trillion, there would be some leakage so that a few billion (by accident) wouold have been spent on something useful.
Once they get down to two trillion or so - they will steal it all.
We don’t need this, at all.
Manchin et alm are waiting for the election results of the nearby states.
That’s my take, no 1. They want to keep their finger in the wind until then.
My second take is 2. That they are waiting for news of election victory in order to magnify the impact of a deal and try to gynn up new groundswell of support for Biden so that they can say he’s shaken off Afghanistan and paint him as a teflon stalwart leader.
