That's what I thought, too.
But HR/Legal pulled a fast one - after December 8th, they will start paying out all of my accrued vacation/personal time, then put me on "unpaid leave", like forever or until I retire.
It is (legally) considered self-separation, so they don't fire me and there is no legal recourse on my part.
I'm 63, I can retire - so screw them - let them hire some new college kid with 42 years of aviation experience under his belt....
By law the fed govt can’t mandate an experimental vax. Also no one can lose a job over it. That’s the law.
This depends entirely on your State. Texas, for example, counts unpaid leave as being unemployed for the sake of receiving unemployment.

Thanks.
I didn’t see anything on postal workers or federal contractors.
“I have determined that to promote the health and safety of the Federal workforce and the efficiency of the civil service, it is necessary to require COVID-19 vaccination for all Federal employees, subject to such exceptions as required by law.”
For contractors, you’d have to follow the link in the order to the “safer federal workforce” who have been tasked with the particulars.
Not sure how the po got exempt, maybe via their union contract.
I believe the current guildline for contractors is that it’s vax or test. Vax provision to be added to subsequent contracts.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this continues in perpetuity, to expand to flu vax, no obesity, or smoking. Some employers, including state govs, have increased insurance charges, or exclusing of the obese/smoke category.
MEDIA running amock.
