(CNN)People who got Covid-19 vaccines were not only less likely to die from the virus, but they were less likely to die from any cause over the following months, researchers reported Friday.
The research team was trying to demonstrate that the three authorized Covid-19 vaccines are safe and they say their findings clearly demonstrate that.
"Recipients of the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Janssen vaccines had lower non--COVID-19 mortality risk than did the unvaccinated comparison groups," the researchers wrote in the weekly report of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It’s interesting you mention that about aging, my neighbor said the same thing - she feels like she’s aged 20 years this year, and she looks rough. She is chalking it up to stress, but who knows 🤷♀️

The summer 2020 drop in all-cause deaths is likely due to displaced deaths from the first wave and the lockdowns (lockdowns causing more non-COVID deaths). Also as they note in the article: "After the initial wave in the spring of 2020, more Covid-19-attributed deaths were recorded that all-cause excess deaths, implying that Covid-19 was misattributed as the underlying cause, rather than a contributing cause of death in some cases.". Then post-vaccine in Mass, summer 2021 there were fewer all-cause deaths than expected. That drop could also be due to displaced (slightly premature) deaths in the fall/winter COVID wave. But it could also be a more general protective effect from the vaccines.
If there’s a correlation, there could be many reasons for it. Well-off suburbanites may be more likely to get the vaccine and also more likely to exercise and less likely to be overweight.
