Incredibly, in 2020, approximately 61% of Americans paid no federal income taxes, according to the Tax Policy Center. Therefore, approximately 39% of Americans paid all federal income taxes. They are rewarded for this staggering largess by being told they need to "pay their fair share." Their "fair share," one might logically surmise, would be around 39% of the federal income taxes paid, not 100%. The top 20% of income earners pay about 67% of federal taxes. "Progressive," you know. They should be lauded as pillars of the community, as not only the most productive, but the most charitable folks in society. (Whether they wanted to be or not.) Instead, they are called "greedy" by the self-same people who receive the benefits of this mass income redistribution.
Literally stupefying.
If you make a lot more money than I do, have more wealth than I do, and you are made to give me a bunch of it, how is it that I could possibly get away with calling you greedy? Am I not the greedy — or at least ungrateful — one?
Then there are the top 1%, who alone pay nearly 40% of all federal income taxes. In a logical world, I'm sure they would love to pay "their fair share" of taxes. Instead, they are openly and arbitrarily shaken down. And reviled. Eat the rich.
In 2017, the top 1% of income-earners in the U.S. paid more in taxes than the bottom 90% combined. That is an amazing factoid.
And now taxpayers are supposed to fund free stuff for those who are here illegally. And watch as crime skyrockets due to insane policies that favor criminals over the police.

How to lie with statistics. What percentage of Americans had income that is subject to taxation given the number of nonworking spouses, children retireees and welfare queens.
Well I’m retired and I paid income tax!!
If you tax the rich to give to the poor, what do you get?
Rich politicians.
They are making money at the expense of people who do not know how to make it - of course that is greedy! /s
Considering the hood rats using an EBT card to buy their groceries and drive home in a Mercedes Benz, I’d say just about everyone in Memphis, including the municipal court judges.

Notice the left is never for a confiscatory wealth tax.
FWIW, I think every American should pay tax.
Just enough so that it hurts. And the people paying begrudge every damn dime.
Slow down there, Skippy...yer speedin’!
I’m retired, pay income tax on my non-government pension AND ALSO on part of my SS retirement benefits and I only take the standard deduction, so no loophole deductions here!
Conformation that the destruction is almost complete.

God bless Dr Sowell.
Joe (married, joint filer) has an adjusted gross income of $300,000 for 2020. He has $50,000 in deductions that reduce that to $250,000 taxable income for the year. His taxes on that amount are $48,159. Joe arranged to take out $910 per weekly paycheck for federal taxes. At the end of the year he has paid $47,320 in federal taxes and owes $839. So he writes a check in that amount and the matter is resolved with the IRS.
Along comes a reporter and looks at the return and what he paid. OMG! Joe made $250,000 and only paid $839 in taxes! A rate of only 0.33% taxes! How is he so priveleged ? WHAT A SCANDAL! THIS CANNOT STAND!
I haven’t paid federal income tax in years.
According to USA Today (yeah, I know) if you make more than $131,350 then you are in the top 20 percent.
A long time ago the guy in front of me at the grocery store was buying steak and lobster. Imagine my surprise when he paid for it with food stamps. My transaction only took a minute or less, so I got outside just in time to see the guy get into a Cadillac.
RE: If you make more than $131,350 then you are in the top 20 percent
That’s a typical household income for a husband and wife both working here in the New York tri-state area.
With the cost of housing and property taxes alone, that is NOT RICH by any stretch of the imagination.
Yea, and allot of them are getting free money that is untaxable from the government while they sit on their asses and hard working people are threatened by force of law to pay tax to support these creeps
When you’re disabled and/or out of work, you don’t have much to pay taxes on!
