President Joe Biden revisited his love of trains during a trip to his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, promising to get millions of vehicles off the roads.
“We will take literally millions of automobiles off the road,” Biden boasted, arguing that more high-speed trains like the ones constructed in China would make trains more attractive.

I don’t think Biden has a clue about much of anything, or is this the brainchild of some of his handlers? Either way, I can’t see where they have thought this out very well. There is a reason for all the cars on the road & it is not that using a railroad might not be a good way to travel. Many places in the U.S. can travel, easier, more conveniently, & almost certainly cheaper by private automobile. Where I live, you would have to drive a hundred or more miles just to catch a train(at the present time) & then it may not be a convenient schedule. I think it’s beyond Joe’s thought processes just to figure this costly project out with a workable solution. I’m not sure there is one, considering the cost.
The ultimate for the crazed ecco nuts is for America to be like China of the 50’s and 60’s, millions of peasants riding bicycles.
They’re just getting started. If unopposed, they’ll literally have EVERY single family home torn down in 20 years, and people living in high-rises, where they won’t need (or be allowed to own) cars.

Inefficient transportation options. They’ll just build more high-rises, or vaccinate-down the native population.
Isn’t that great!? Instead of freedom to do what you want, the government will eliminate a choice for you, making your decisions even easier!
Trains represent transportation means and technology 100 years older than the automobile, and were abandoned by the majority of travelers as inherently personally less efficient more often than more efficient, when the auto industry took off. And “speed” was not the primary consideration, as most trains were much faster than most automobile’s top speed for a long time after the automobile began to get established.
Train’s “going faster” might change the market dynamics between trains and planes, but for a number of reasons is not likely to change the market dynamics between trains and automobiles. It might not even change the market dynamics with planes all that much. I have traveled in multiple situations where the very best bus service available was better and more convenient than alternative train service, and a faster train would not have offset all the ways the bus was better. Buses can make connections wherever there are roads a bus can use. Train connections are limited to the limited number of train stations and they are all on fixed-dedicated train lines. In other words train routes have inherently fewer variables possible compared to ALL forms of transportation that use the roads. Even airplanes have alternate routes in the sky between point A and point B but a train does not.
They could use all the empty coal cars to haul people in. Would save a lot of money. Just need to install side dumps to use at the Soylent Green plant.

I took my kids on a sight seeing train ride from Palestine to Rusk, TX. It is a steam engine with open cars. Nice ride through the woods.
We got halfway to Rusk and had to stop. A large pine tree had fallen on the tracks. So we went backwards to the original train station.
From what I recall, Willie has a blow-out with the boss and was suspended for a time.

Plus, in China, there are no rights to own property. If the ccp wants to put rail through a village or town, they just do it.
We likely will go the same way the Aussies did, sadly. Notice how many people, your friends and neighbors have already fallen into line with the sell out. There was a video online this week of a drive through fast food window server that refused to hand a coke to the girl in the car unless she put on the mask he was willing to hand her.
I have enjoyed a number of train rides, and do not dispute certain pleasures that are possible with them. But I do not think they are “best” in most instances most of the time and do not think they are more personally efficient than transportation alternatives the majority of the time, a difference that mere speed of the train will not solve.
You can go by train from New York City to Washington D.C. in about 3 1/2 hours. By car it takes between 4 to 6 hours depending on traffic. Yet the number of passenger trips between NYC and Washington D.C. by car, annually, is I expect greater than the number of passenger trips made by train. The essential trip time is only one factor which determines what form of transportation is chosen.
He's acting like he's doing us a favor.
When they started building railroads, the government didn't jump in to get rid of horses and wagons which most people used to get around every day and do their individual work, business, and transportation.
But Biden is threatening to do the equivalent of just that. So, now it will be foot, bicycles, or electric buses to do anything but speed to some train station in another city on a set schedule.
