Democrats’ months-long drive for muscular new federal voting rights legislation hit a new roadblock Wednesday, with options for progress dwindling as Senate Republicans remained united in blocking debate on the issue. ... But the realities of the Senate — with a razor-thin Democratic majority and a united Republican minority empowered by the long-standing filibuster rule requiring a 60-vote supermajority to advance most legislation — continue to make progress difficult and wholly dependent on the willingness of key Democratic senators to change their views on modifying the Senate’s rules. ... The new bill, called the Freedom to Vote Act, keeps some provisions of the earlier bill, including national standards for early voting and vote-by-mail, new disclosure requirements for “dark money” groups and the establishment of Election Day as a federal holiday. But it also discards or scales back controversial provisions such as a reworking of the Federal Election Commission, a major new public financing system for congressional elections and a mandate for nonpartisan redistricting commissions. ... “Joe Manchin has been given all summer to both draft and negotiate this bill,” said Meagan Hatcher-Mays ...

Very little article quoting is allowed from WP. Therefore, I will summarize the important points:
- The bill puts Federal mandates on what has historically been a State management of elections.
- The bill enshrines vote-by-mail. (My note: This is a major vector for fraud! France, among other nations, banned VBM because fraud was rampant!)
- Manchin is still not signed on to support the bill,
- However, Manchin actually helped author this version of the bill. (My note: I'd expect he'd eventually support something he actually put his pen to!)
- Sinema seems to be discounted, in this article, as an opponent of this bill. (My note: She often surprises. I'm not sure she's 100% on board.)
- Fillibuster removal seems a dead issue.

There was speculation on Fox yesterday about the possibility that Manchin might switch from Democrat to Independent.

Laughing out loud at the Washington Compost’s Orwellian title (”voting rights legislation”). That bill would END democracy in this country if enacted into law! America’s de facto communist party would make every election a bigger farce than anything going on in North Korea if ever given that kind of power.

The Democrats want to destroy legal voting and the Republicans are bad for not wanting to.

“Laughing out loud at the Washington Compost’s Orwellian title (”voting rights legislation”).”
Rush used to frequently talk about the Democrats naming their legislation in a fashion that describes it doing the exact opposite of its title.

“muscular new federal voting rights legislation”
Look at this language. Unreal. Let’s obliterate all election security and call it muscular.

The Freedom to Cheat Act is what it should be called.

Voting “rights”. The boy “right” it would protect is the “right” to cheat and to commit election fraud.

SCOTUS has been adamant that state legislatures have all the election power. This bill being discussed will get a blizzard of court challenges If passed.

It’s really about getting rid of the Senate filibuster.
Both Manchin AND Sinema said they are against that.
I think a few more democrat senators might also refuse.
It is a VERY short—sighted thing for the democrats to do.
As soon as Republicans take back the Senate, the democrats will seriously regret it, as will the laughing stock DNCMedia types at the Washington Pist.
