Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, introduced a bill this week to transfer migrant detention facilities from border towns to ritzy areas where “Democrat elites host their cocktail parties,” such as Martha’s Vineyard.
“President Biden and Democrats need to step up to defend our southern border and support our heroic Customs and Border Protection officials,” he said.
The bill, dubbed the Stop the Surge of Unsafe Rio Grande Encampments (SURGE) Act, would help the federal government get control of the southern border after President Joe Biden “willingly surrendered” it to “dangerous criminal cartels” without any “thought given to the South Texas border communities like McAllen and Del Rio,” he said.
“That’s why today I am introducing this crucial legislation to alleviate the massive overload at the southern border by establishing new ports of entry in Democrat-led communities such as North Hero, Vermont, where Bernie Sanders spends his summers, and Martha’s Vineyard, where Democrat elites host their cocktail parties,” Cruz said in a statement.
If D.C. Democrats “had to endure even a fraction of the suffering” facing the “families, ranchers, and small businesses” located near the border, the Biden administration would have no problem enforcing immigration laws or building a border wall, Cruz added.
Cruz’s bill would open up 13 new immigration processing centers in different communities across the country, including Martha’s Vineyard, Governor’s Island in New York, and Palo Alto, California.
The bill would also mandate that “all illegal aliens encountered at Border Patrol Sectors in Texas be transferred to these new ports for processing” and “require insulated communities to help shoulder the burdens of their preferred open-border policies.”
Last month, Cruz blasted Democrats for caring more about the migrant crisis under the Trump administration than the Biden administration.
“Let’s see AOC cry in front of the Biden cages. Let’s see Joe Biden or Kamala Harris or [White House press secretary] Jen Psaki say ‘there is no border crisis’ as we stand in front of the Biden cages,” he said. “They are lying and they’re counting on the media to cover up their lies, and it’s incredibly cynical and it’s wrong.”
Martha’s Vineyard is perfect for this, I love it!

Malibu, Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Atlanta, Broward County...
The people on The vineyard that would be stuck with them would be the permanent residents..the grocery workers, police and fire, mail carriers, teachers, carpenters and other working stiffs.
Cruz is an ass.
.
They’re all leftists, including the postal workers and nurses, the locals are descendants of the Loyal British and tend towards globalism. The conservatives live and vacation on Nantucket. Its a noticeable difference.
Nope.,Many Republican on the Vineyard….maybe more Dems but few are rich.
Where do the Rs on the Vineyard live? Its been a D stronghold for as long as I can remember. Try flying a Trump flag on MV - lol, good luck with that.
What a waste of time put into a bill that’ll never happen......when there’s real issues Cruz could be addressing and putting time into that CAN be done.
I understand there is plenty of room around Obama’s mansion. Cause sometimes you’ve earned enough.
Every Libtard enclave you can think of should be entry point #1.
They have the money and can always use a new person to wash their cars and landscape their lawns.
So brilliant...hey dems you luuurrrvv the illegals so much put em up in your digs!
No place should be immune.
All the logic of dropping the turd in their side of the punch bowl.
So do I.
I have been making that suggestion for a long time.
Let the fun begin.
I was running for a much lower office when Ted Cruz was campaigning for his first term as a Senator. He has never wavered in his conservative principles.
I am so proud of him and hope that everyone will support his efforts. He is courageous and innovative, a true national treasure of a human being. We need more people like him. . .there are not many, but we need to seek them out and support them as well.
In other words, the unionized.
Take their jobs? Tough shiite, what they are doing everywhere else, the NE liberals should start participating and have their bubble popped.
I agree.
This is more of the symbolism nonsense like Jim Jordan sending letters and making demands but no real actions.
Cruz wants to run in 2024 and he thinks we are stupid and will fall for this game.
Cruz stinks and does not deserve a single vote.
Great idea, but not a new one. Others have suggested similar. And I’ve long said that if illegal aliens were coming here to vote for Trump or people like him the wall would have been built long ago. The left are hypocrites, and their Mengele-ization of medicine continues with them denying actual science in favor of strong political opinions and outright guessing games. I saw an article of one example, “FDA Will Allow ‘Mix and Match’ COVID Booster Shots. What Could Go Wrong?”, and you can give that a look at PJmedia. First, these aren’t real vaccines, and second given the 9 month development time versus 10 years for a real vaccine nobody know what these will actually do to a human over the long term, so all I can do is wish those risking it good luck. And I don’t mind Cruz harassing democRATs but he knows this Bill has zero chance of passing the Senate, House AND being signed into Law by Let’s Go Brandon.
True, if they didn’t want those people there then they would pass local laws to force them to congregate elsewhere.
At least the point is made. If illegal aliens came to the USA to live in the enclaves leftists use then the lefties would build the wall themselves.
