In-N-Out Burger blasted the city of San Francisco's proof of COVID-19 vaccination requirements after the San Francisco Department of Health closed one of the popular California burger joint's locations for serving customers who were not carrying the proper papers.
"On Thursday, October 14, the San Francisco Department of Public Health closed our restaurant at 333 Jefferson Street because In-N-Out Burger Associates (employees) were not preventing the entry of Customers who were not carrying proper vaccination documentation," In-N-Out Burger's chief legal and business officer, Arnie Wensinger, said in a statement.
"Our store properly and clearly posted signage to communicate local vaccination requirements," Wensinger said. "After closing our restaurant, local regulators informed us that our restaurant Associates must actively intervene by demanding proof of vaccination and photo identification from every Customer, then act as enforcement personnel by barring entry for any Customers without the proper documentation."

You have to show an ID to get a hamburger, but not to vote?
Good for In-N-Out. Closing one franchise in SF is not going to hurt their bottom line. And no, it should not be incumbent on business owners to conduct inquiries into customers’ vaccination status.
Good for them. Make the city enforce their draconian policies. Don’t do it for them.
The dam is starting to crack even in leftist-dominated areas. When it breaks, it may coincide with the mid term elections.
BanFrancisco strikes again
Apparently....
“local regulators” LGB!
I’ll be at In-N-Out tomorrow
Guess a trip to In&Out is in the offing.
That’s going to leave a mark. In-N-Out is like crack in CA.
It sure hurts the bottom line of the franchisee. But I agree with their stance that you should not be able to compel individuals or private corporations to become law enforcement agents.
> Associates must actively intervene by demanding proof of vaccination and photo identification <
That’s just nuts. Polite vaccinated folks would comply. Polite unvaccinated folks would walk away. Everyone else would raise hell. It would turn an In-N-Out Burger into, well, a typical Chuck E. Cheese.
Oh, good!!
I’ll support them even MOAR!!!
Is it just me or are there starting to be a whole lot of cracks in this whole “mandate” thing?
Is this at a DRIVE-UP WINDOW?
ML/NJ
Indeed, I’m sure it is against the law to ask about or discriminate based on other health conditions.
Imagine the reaction in San Francisco, if there were inquiries about one’s HIV and AIDS status. Imagine if one were asked to provide documentation regarding treatment for such medical conditions.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa....
They are on JEFFERSON St! The outrage.
Of course. Asking for a voter ID is racissss.
Hamburgers are on a higher plane.
The Big Lebowski:
Walter Sobchak: “Smokey, this is not 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules. You mark that frame an 8, and you're entering a world of pain.”
As stated......”Associates must actively intervene”......
Associates cannot actively intervene in most retail environments if someone is pounding the crap out of another person......but you’re expected to demand a vaccination proof which incites confrontation.
