CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Parents from Charlotte Catholic High School are upset about a controversial banner displayed by Butler High School cheerleaders before Friday night’s football game.
It reads “Sniff, sniff, you smell that?” with the word “privilege” written in white and book ended by dollar signs.
Chomo Biden will sniff his way to the bottom of this.
Whose idea was that? It reeks of Mean Girl jealousy and a wish to divide people.
Nuts! I was hoping Charlotte Catholic (6-2) had stomped Butler (also 6-2), but Butler won 28-21.
I don’t quite get it. The Butler cheerleaders appear to a mixed group of white and black girls. Are the blond cheerleaders at Butler somehow considered honorary non-whites because they’re on the same squad as blacks?
Sounds like they are dividing people by wealth privilege rather than melanin privilege.
I suppose you’re right, but painting the word privilege in white would seem to suggest a racial component. Hard to know whose bright idea this banner was and why they thought it was some kind of effective taunt.
I don’t know. I don’t really understand the mentality of today’s “yoots.” I come from a different era... the ‘80s... a time in which being called an affluent white person would have been taken as more of a compliment than the ultimate gotcha that it apparently is now.
Let’s go Brandon!
That’s the banner I hoped to see.
This is nothing more than a jealous racist taunt by the public school against a Catholic school. I have a relative who is a senior at the Catholic school. I hope the those involved have to pay a steep price for their childish stunt.
Being familiar with both institutions, I think this is mildly amusing. If you’re going to play football with either my tax dollars or my contribution dollars (which they are), you need to toughen up.
The youth have been programmed by far-left ideologues.
Butler is a public school in a very wealthy area called Ballatyne (that’s where the rich white liberals live). I have my issues with Charlotte Catholic because the cherry pick there football team and beat mine in the playoffs (it is what it is) we actually beat them in a preseason game
Butler is not in Ballantyne. It’s in Matthews, not far from the 74/51 intersection.
That’s pretty mild compared to what I’ve seen this season. Our cheerleaders are SAVAGE!!! When our banners go up, so do the cameras because those banners can be just brutal on the other teams!
Butler is in Matthews...the other side of 74. But also not a “poor” area of the county. The wife says Butler is probably 50/50 race-wise...she’s not positive.
That being said, Charlotte Catholic has their own student problems...usually involving drugs.
Correct ballatyne kids go to Ardrery Kale Matthews and mint hill is pretty affluent
I remember, in high school (late ‘60s), Mint Hill was the place to move to if you wanted acreage...5 acre “estates” or more. Of course, getting to Mint Hill was like driving to another state back them...took forever. There was no 485, or even an extended Hwy 51. Even Hwy 74 (Wilkinson/Independence) was a straight shot thru Charlotte before it was chopped up and the silly curly-cue rerouting thrown in and around the Queen City. Heck, I-77 south from Charlotte was just a dream at that point. This was also decades before Union County became the acreage destination for Charlotteans.
I remember Krispy Kreme on Independence it was a treat to drive fro
Kings Mountain to Charlotte
Yes! There was a KK on South Blvd also. You could stand at that window and watch’em make those little jewels. Good memories!
