I seem to recall the USAF accomplishing this by accident about 1957. Yeah, I’m that old. It was some sort of air-launched missile.
Today it would be an ideal EMP delivery weapon.
I won’t believe the US hasn’t got the capability already, and isn’t broadcasting the fact.

“EMP”, overblown on the order of Covid-19 as it stands ...
All were taken out of service by 1988 and Congress did not approve a replacement. The X-37 is the closest we have and that was a NASA program to start.
We do NOT have that capability other than by strapping weapons to the X-37, and we’ve made.... two.
It’s maybe like the air-launched satellite-killer weapon?
Tested, then I never heard much about it again.
These days, maybe they’re just focusing on lasers?
Our own people say, “We don’t know how they did that.”
That tells me we probably don’t have an equivalent, today.
