Good to hear the thermostat hasn’t cranked back up there. Maybe fall IS going to stay this time.
Our temp was the same as yesterday but the wind wasn’t whipping today. I still didn’t spend time outside because they were out in the field across the road with a big spray rig again. They were here last weekend spraying and it turned out to be defoliant. The cotton is dead! I guess they’re spraying more to kill off leaves that are still green so they can harvest soon. The sooner, the better!
Yep, it’s easier to get to the bolls when there aren’t leaves in the way. But what a nasty mess that spray must have been. Ugh What a shame you couldn’t enjoy a nice wind-free cool day.
*sigh* Just looked at the weeks’ forecasts and it’s supposed to be in the low-to-mid 80s all week. Just go away already!
It would have been nice to sit on the patio or walk around the farm a bit but I don’t go out when they’re spraying. This will all be over soon though.
Bummer it’s going to heat up again this week. I know you aren’t pleased about that. But low to mid 80s isn’t too bad. We’ll be in the 70s all week.
Well, I do have the memory of this great cool weekend and how well I slept when it was chilly enough to cuddle under a comforter for a change. No AC or fan noises. We didn’t need them when it was like 74 in the house.
I don’t blame you for not going out in that stuff. I hope they’re done soon so if you need to run errands, you can breathe as you leave the farm. I guess this means that cotton harvest is coming soon.
I’ve been SO stuffed up and coughing and that was after the wind turned to the north and we were getting Lubbock’s cotton mess. That stuff! If I didn’t like cotton clothing so much, I’d like it banned. LOL!
How's everyone doing this morning?
Melting snow? Sounds like “global warming” up there!
It’ll be cool again soon enough and you can get back under your comforter. LOL
Yes, the cotton will be harvested soon, thank goodness. I thought he’d wait until the bolls were all open but I guess not. Those at the top of the plants, and there are a lot, won’t open now. Everyone’s busting butt to get their crops in as soon as they can because it’s getting late. Late planting this year was a big monkey wrench.
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
I hope you and Gizmo had another gorgeous day for your outing. Did he drag you all over, working up a big appetite for your KFC supper?
And actually we did have KFC supper before going to the lake.
BTW the 6th picture from the top is Gizmo rolling in dog poop.((LOL)).
It’s a shame that they’re having to rush things. Hope it’s better next spring...AND that he plants soybeans. LOL!
Well, it’s 57 right now, so I expect I’ll get to cuddle at least one more night. It’s amazing how my mood has changed now that I’m not sweating all the time. I feel downright jolly. Almost. 😎
Yep, I know how dogs love cool weather. Makes ‘em friskier than ever. It looks like Giz had a grand time getting his ya-yas out - - even found dog poop to roll in. LOL I hope you had a damp towel on hand to clean him off before you went home!
You know, I’ve been missing everyone so much. I guess because it’s October and we should be at the shoot. Hope you’re well.
Corn and soybeans were ready for harvest before cotton and those poor farmers have had a heck of a time getting their crops in. Rain keeps messing them up. Thank goodness this week will be dry except Thursday and chances are low then. One of those times we hope the rain misses us. :-)
It’s down to 40 here and will probably dip into the upper 30s briefly before morning. The poor critters outside are bound to be unhappy since they don’t have winter coats yet. Nights will be warmer the rest of the week at least.
Not being sweaty does improve one’s mood. :-)
Well, it’s long past time to crash. See ya tomorrow.
LOL! You stayed up later than I thought you would. Must have found a good show to watch. Sleep well.
There were some people camping by the restroom at the pavilion this weekend. I'm not sure if they had dogs or what but I did see some areas of poop out by the picnic tables.
So, there may have been some dogs but I don't know ((LOL)).....
In any event we'll see what today holds.
Good to have a towel on hand, knowing how he loves to find smelly spots to roll in. LOL
I hope today’s another nice, cool one for your outing.
It WAS a good one. LOL! See ya later!
