CHINA has reportedly placed its military on "high alert" as state controlled media warned Taiwan of a looming "doomsday" amid fears of invasion.
Beijing and Taipei are feared to be sitting on the brink of a conflict which could end up drawing in the US and potentially spiralling into World War 3.
Both sides have traded barbs - and now China has issued some of its most strongly worded threats to date as it vows to "reunify" with the separatist island that has claimed independence since 1949.
Chinese defense ministry spokesman Tan Kefei described Beijing's military as an "high alert" and "ready to fight any time", according to Communist Party controlled newspaper The Global Times.
And he fired back at the US who accused China of destabilising the region by carrying out military drills which are seen as squarely aimed at Taiwan.
Dozens of warplanes have been buzzing the island's air space and mass beach landing operations have been carried out in exercises that are widely seen as rehearsals for - or at least threats of - a full scale invasion.
Tan reiterated that Taiwan belongs to China and accused the US of "confusing white with black" over the issue - pledging that "external interference" would be beaten back.

Yup...if they have them. A good demonstration bomb on some remote place in the sea by Taiwan might put the pause on some of the Mainland’s sabre rattling.
Even hinting at such with clever releases of plausible sounding documents might worry the mainland enough that they will stand down!
But I don’t think Taiwan has them. Too bad!

They believe Taiwanese reunification will be quick and dirty, emphasis on the former.
That meshes all too well with depraved Confucian 'act-first-and-beg-for-forgiveness-later'.
However, the wild card for both sides, is that China will also blockade the Phillipines as the main bargaining chip.
For example, China owns 2GO, the main Phillipine ferry service. They will shut down Phillipine intra-island travel and freight overnight.
While the Taiwanese execute their orderly island home defense plan, under a Chinese blockade, the Phillipines' social order will dissolve overnight, with +/-250,000 US ex-pats at risk, as opposed to only +/-5,000 permanent US residents in Taiwan.
This Chinese pre-scripted event -- fully transmitted to Gen. Milley in advance -- will give our puppet-state Xiden the opportunity to 'stand down' when China 'gives back' the Phillipines, in exchange for China keeping Taiwan.
Communist regimes do this to gain concessions and favors etc... From weak administrations.
