These googles give enormous advantages for soldier, and particularly, those controlling/commanding them, to understand what is going on around them, on the battlefield and of their own troops...
Knowing Google, the delivery will be a bit late as they need to run the specs by China and Russia, first.
Google = Microsoft
It is my understanding that they run on Vista. The BSOD is an issue! /s
Rumor mil is that scarce components and battery life are the issues. I have NO inside info. just rumors among the Army and vendors.
Simply outrageous.
Yeah and tested by the Tollybon.
Talleyban were given these by Milley and his Pentagram.
Heck, what we call “treason” is in their job description.
Because the Taliban have all the ones we had, lol.
We’re going to have to get them from China, so, of course, they’ll be late.
Getting commanders used to micromanaging their automatons/robots.
But on the plus side, this stuff will actually NEVER be in the hands of more than a couple thousand troops, at BEST - and then only for training. God only knows how fast they’d all be broken, lost, or hacked into game systems, or all three.
Can’t they just ask the Taliban to give them back?
In theory, yes. However, as the military becomes more politicized it will also become more intensely micromanaged, and I see the potential for an info-glut actually leading to delayed decisions while the info is processed and evaluated.
Given the highly restrictive ROE we've seen our soldiers operating under in recent years, coupled with the fact that company, battalion and brigade commanders will pretty much be able to see what each soldier is doing in real time, I think many leaders are going to be unable to resist the temptation to direct individual soldiers when careers are on the line.
Soldier! You deactivated your IVAS!
No sir, the batteries died. See?
Captain Alexander, why did Private Snodgrass fire on the target on the right instead of the one the left? Why is Corporal Jones’ canteen only half full?
This equipment has not been fielded, so it is unlikely any were left for the Taliban.
Captain Alexander, why did Private Snodgrass fire on the target on the right instead of the one the left? Why is Corporal Jones’ canteen only half full?
Well, sir, what you call the target on the right is actually our allied unit. Are you ordering me to fire on allied troops?
As far as Corporal Jones canteen being half full, last I checked a canteen is a storage device for water and the Corporal was thirsty.
Anything else, sir?
Those were NVGs, not these goggles.
