Warren calls for Amazon breakup

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is calling for the breakup of Amazon after Reuters reported that the online retail giant created knock-off products and manipulated product searches in India.

In response to the report, Warren tweeted that the documents at the heart of the news service's article “show what we feared about Amazon’s monopoly power—that the company is willing and able to rig its platform to benefit its bottom line while stiffing small businesses and entrepreneur."

"This is one of the many reasons we need to break it up,” she added.

And she's right here even if for partially incorrect reasons. Anti-trust laws desperately need to be updated for the modern, tech era. Monopolies or close to it is terrible for capitalism and these companies have such scale they can wreak havoc on *any* industry they want.

When I first discovered Amazon I found myself doing every single bit of my online ordering from amazon. I don’t do that anymore. I found better prices all over the place and I’m finding that I just need to wander around the internet in the same way that I would wander around a shopping mall.

In shopping mall speak, Amazon is an anchor tenant.

Congress investigated Amazon several years ago and discovered similar activities.

Democrats have done nothing about those report findings.

There has been an interesting change in the market place.

Black and Decker battery power tool sales have seemingly migrated to Amazon. not too long ago, said B&D tools were available at Walmart, Home Depot and Lowes. They are now not present tin these outlets.

I needed a new polishing bonnet for my buffer. Walmart is where I have bought them several times before. There is no trace of B&D at Walmart. I went to Lowes to see if they had a battery operated B&D blower. No trace of B&D. I didn’t buy B&D, I bought Ego

Everything B&D is on Amazon. It would seem that Amazon has replaced Walmart, Home Depot and Lowes as the primary sales outlet for the inexpensive B&D home repair market.

The real money is the commercial market dominated by DeWalt. Dewalt and B&D are the same company.
