It must feel good to be a Texan right now.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has officially obliterated Joe Biden’s hopes of forcing private employers in the state of Texas to force Americans to take the coronavirus vaccine.
Abbott already banned vaccine mandates from governmental entities, but Biden’s latest order impacted over 100 million employees across the nation as the administration targeted the private sector.
Abbott issued an executive order that entirely bans vaccine mandates in the state by employers, including private employers.
“No entity in Texas can compel receipt of a COVID-19 vaccine by any individual, including an employee or a consumer, who objects to such vaccination for any reason of personal conscience, based on a religious belief, or for medical reasons, including prior recovery from COVID-19,” Abbott said.
“I hereby suspend all relevant statutes to the extent necessary to enforce this prohibition,” he added.
Abbott has issued a number of executive orders that are “aimed at protecting the health and safety of Texans.”
He says his goal is to achieve “the least restrictive means of combatting the evolving threat to public health.”
“COVID-19 vaccines are strongly encouraged for those eligible to receive one,” Abbott notes, but it must “always be voluntary for Texans.”
More from Daily Wire:
He also pointed out that he had previously issued executive orders to bar “governmental entities and certain others from imposing COVID- 19 vaccine mandates or requiring vaccine passports,” but in “yet another instance of federal overreach, the Biden Administration is now bullying many private entities into imposing COVID-19 vaccine mandates, causing workplace disruptions.”
He concluded, “This executive order shall remain in effect and in full force unless it is modified, amended, rescinded, or superseded by the governor. This executive order may also be amended by proclamation of the governor.”
“Abbott also called on the Texas state Legislature to pass a law with the same effect. The executive order would be rescinded upon the passage of such legislation, the governor’s office said,” CNN reported.
In September, President Biden attacked Abbott and Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis; last May DeSantis signed a bill allowing “the state to issue fines beginning Sept. 16 if people are asked to show proof they have received a COVID-19 vaccine before being allowed in businesses, schools, or government buildings,” as WFTV 9 reported.
Biden started by boasting, “We’ve made enormous progress against the virus through the summer. And now we put ourselves in a strong position to battle this Delta variant. That’s why the actions I proposed on vaccines last week are so critical”…
“From requiring federal workers to get vaccinated, requiring healthcare workers to be vaccinated, requiring employers with over 100 employees to institute vaccine and or test protocols calling on for them to be able to know what their employees are doing before they walk through the door”…
“Calling for vaccine or test requirements to enter big venues. And a whole series of steps I posed to protect our kids in schools.”

It’s always felt good to be a Texan.
Southwestern Airlines is a Texas company, right?
How is this breaking? SW and American already told Abbott to pound sand.
Mandates are still on. Abbott didn’t do anything except try and gain voter points.
Ck bk ltr.
He’s all talk. Does nothing but talk. SW will ignore him and he’ll go back to issuing orders for toys r us to do what he says.
How can they ban it, when Biden hasn’t even done it yet?
Every red state should follow his lead.
This will work to stop private companies that would be covered under the never to be seen OSHA requirement. For federal government employees and federal contractors (e.g. Southwest Airlines, hospitals who take Medicare money) this will not help, since the state lacks the power to enforce this against the federal government, and since the Fed can simply refuse to do business with them effectively shutting them down.
Unless Abbot says Texas is leaving ‘the union’, his executive order is likely powerless.
So, how about seceding, Abbott?
Why didn’t Abbott close that border before he announced he would.. after thousands invaded ..
Kick ASS.
More to follow hopefully.
Except THERE IS NO FEDERAL MANDATE! Biden has not issued one. The “mandate” is nothing but a press release stating that he wants to institute a mandate. That’s why none of the states’ AGs have filed lawsuits challenging it.
Nope. There is no mandate. There are only press releases stating that there will be a mandate. You will not find and EO with the federal mandate on it.
this is separating the sheep from the goats. you can tell what the companies really WANT to do. if they WANT to impose mandates, they point to Biden and the Feds. If they do not want to impose mandates, the Texas EO gives them cover, and they can legitimately say they’ll wait for the courts to sort it out. This will actually help out a lot of texas companies over 100 people who dont like the federal mandate. at the very least it gives them cover to hand out exemptions like candy.
What took him so long?
It's not for lack of trying.
"The White House on Tuesday warned Republican governors of Texas and Florida that President Joe Biden would override their efforts to fight coronavirus vaccine mandates in their states."
" “We know that federal law overrides state law,” she said referring to state attempts to ban vaccine passports."
Required vaccinations for workers. No requirement for those on welfare/entitlements.
