There’s a moment in “State of Terror,” the new thriller by Hillary Rodham Clinton and Louise Penny, when the protagonist – Ellen Adams, a spunky and fearless female secretary of State – visits former President Eric Dunn at his palatial Florida estate and attempts to describe the spell he casts.
“To be in his orbit was to experience something extraordinary. There was a pull, a promise of excitement. Of danger. Like juggling grenades. It was exhilarating. And terrifying. Even she could feel it.”
What I could feel on that page was Clinton wrestling with how she could have lost the presidency to Donald Trump. Adams concludes that Dunn profited from scheming foreign governments as well as a dark side to democracy. “People were free to abuse their freedoms,” she muses.
And will do so over and over again, she might have added. Because it sure looks like our real-life former president is headed for a 2024 run, and neither he nor his followers have changed a bit.

Louise Penny has just made it to my “Authors Whose Books I Will Never Read” list. What a complete jerk.
Yes! Her lifetime ambition thwarted by that upstart tyro who had no political experience. How could that happen?! And after all she sacrificed, living in Arkansas (!!) for Gawd's sake, putting up with the humiliations repeatedly heaped upon her by Bill. Yes, it's frustrating. And her opportunity has come and gone.
“In the remainder bin within two weeks.”
I sold books on-line as an additional income stream for many years, though there’s no $ in it now.
You are 100% correct. I have YET to see a book written by a main-stream Socialist Democrat that ever had ANY resale value, whatsoever!
Books by Conservative authors hold their value pretty much forever.
No. Her time has come and gone. She had two opportunities and failed both. These books and occasional speaking gigs where she can run down deplorables are her future.
A neighbor of mine gave me three Louise Penny books. I started one; it was slow. Then I found out she had been collaborating with Hillary.
Now I want nothing to do with them.
I agree with all three of you. Please see my post 25. I was given books by Penny but when I found out that Hillary was involved, I can’t read them.
Once I went to a bargain store. There were stacks of Hillary’s book going for the amazing marked-down price of $1. They still couldn’t get rid of them.
And that’s saying something because Canadians are generally liberal, hate Trump and love Biden. Ugh.
I have listened to all of the audio books in the series. Her main characters have always been a bit on the woke side, but I still enjoyed them. Until the most recent one - very anti-Trump and pro vaccine.
Madness of Crowds
Thank you
Would a cynical observer add deceitful, vengeful, powermad, mendacious, and/or sociopathic?
Wow. Ripped from the headlines, per the author of the article. I hope she feels better as she seems to have been quite upset by the Trump administration
The fun part would be if Louse tried to slip in unflattering details about the Hillary character.
A fiction piece by a narcissist psychopath.
You will find this book in the junk bin at the gas station soon.
I do think it might be fun to look at the phony glowing reviews that show up on Amazon.
Sorta like that TV series supposed to be Hillary: “Mad, Damn Secretary”
No wrath matches the hatred of a scorned female commie.
I don’t care about that fat old evil hag.
Her time has come and gone.

She doesn’t know that.
Hillary Clinton and Louise Penny = Penny Dreadful
Can you be magnetic for flies?
