A quarter of the nation's roads in peril against flooding, report on infrastructure risk says

Almost a quarter of the nation's roads and other critical infrastructure — from hospitals to police and fire stations to wastewater treatment plants — are at risk of becoming overcome by climate change-exacerbated flooding, a new report from the nonprofit First Street Foundation finds.

The report examines risk over the next three decades, including every mile of road and major infrastructure in nearly all U.S. counties. It also examines risks for commercial and residential flooding as well as "social infrastructure" like government buildings, churches and schools.

After a summer of outsized floods across the nation — from Louisiana to Michigan to New York City — the report's researchers say one thing is clear: The U.S. isn't prepared.

"It's just bonkers to think about," said Matthew Eby, First Street Foundation's executive director.

The report comes as Congress ponders investing trillions, including a bipartisan infrastructure bill, to address the outdated systems that help the nation run on a daily basis. The U.N. last week warned the world is woefully unprepared for climate-induced disasters including flooding.

Stop it, See BS. If you have irrefutable proof of what you're saying then put it out there and if not, stop the fear mongering.

The Obamas know Globull Warming is such a lie that they bought a multi-million dollar house on Martha’s Vineyard.

If there are streams and rivers, the road can flood unless you have high rise bridges over each one. Every five to ten years around here, the roads are closed by floods. Ida killed a lot of drivers trying to get through. Education would help the drivers but people having medical emergencies are still out of luck.

And only the Democrats can fix it.

With just 50% of the money going to them.

The media is desperate to promote Clueless Joe’s fiscal beat down of the dollar. I disconnected from the national media years ago and now watch the local news just for the weather. I have about given up on trying to sort real news from the garbage. Every one in the media just wants our money, except the politicians who want our votes, so they can get our money.

Last time these lying POS RATs were going to fix infrastructure they fixed some bike paths and put up signs to tell us how wonderful they are.

Don’t worry folks, they never spend the fake money on their fake projects.

Poor design is what happens when you have a bunch of Dems building roads.

No, no, no; fear mongering is all they have. There is no data to support any of this — if you disallow editing the data to get what you predicted and get your ill-designed and fraudulent models to run.

The civil engineers unions and the infrastructure contractors lobbies found favor with “reporters” to try to scare up support for Biden’s $5 trillion dollar political boondoggle.

And they’ll never change. The devil’s disciples need all ‘R’ money for their own use. Just ask Haiti. Lots of money has ‘just disappeared’ from the government.
