Some GOP officials are urging Republican voters to back Democrats in 2022 to save the party from 'pro-Trump extremists'

Two GOP officials urged voters to make sure "rational Republicans" don't lose the "GOP civil war."

The op-ed was written by Miles Taylor, a Trump-era Department of Homeland Security chief of staff, and Christine Todd Whitman, a former Republican Gov. of New Jersey.

They highlighted the need to elect a "strong contingent of moderate Democrats" in 2022.

Two GOP officials have urged Republican voters to vote Democrat in the 2022 midterm elections, suggesting that this might be a way for the GOP to "battle pro-Trump extremists."

Miles Taylor, a Trump-era Department of Homeland Security chief of staff, and Christine Todd Whitman, a former Republican Gov. of New Jersey, penned an op-ed in The New York Times on Monday. Taylor was the Trump administration official who, under the pen name "Anonymous", wrote a 2018 op-ed in The Times describing a "resistance" of Trump administration officials working to tamper the former president's "worst inclinations."

Together, Taylor and Whitman asked that the GOP's base consider supporting Democrats so that "conservative pragmatists" could retake control of the party.

"Rational Republicans are losing the party civil war. And the only near-term way to battle pro-Trump extremists is for all of us to team up on key races and overarching political goals with our longtime political opponents: the Democrats," Taylor and Whitman wrote.

"It's a strategy that has worked," they wrote. "Mr. Trump lost re-election in large part because Republicans nationwide defected, with seven percent who voted for him in 2016 flipping to support Joe Biden, a margin big enough to have made some difference in key swing states."

The less of a percentage of a hold in the House and Senate the Republicans have the more happy the GOPe is, especially if the Dems have the White House.

Also consider that there are several FReepers that promote voting for Dems if a RINO is on the ticket. Never understood that.

Would you vote for Christie Whitman if she were the GOP candidate?

“And how exactly does electing Democrats help moderate Republicans?”

“Moderate Republicans” don’t deserve our help.

“Moderate” is not a word that true Patriots would ever use to describe themselves.

In the world of politics, identifying as “moderate” is how self-dealing politicians signal to each other that, once in office, they won’t go overboard with any right-wing extremist notions…

…such as holding honest elections, draining the swamp, putting America first, defending individual liberties, protecting the unborn, or adhering to the Constitution.

If you want to get an idea of what a “moderate Republican” is - think Chris Wallace or Mitt Romney.

We have corrupt twisted spineless politicians because they accurately reflect the qualities most prevalent in the people who voted for them:

In other words, "Garbage In, Garbage Out!"

Christine Todd Whitman, a former Republican Gov. of New Jersey.

She's the Peggy Noonan wing of the party, along with that HP loser.

Yeah, but the masks on these two have been off for a long time. Especially CTW.

7 % of Republicans did not flip; they were flipped by voter fraud.

There is simply no way for anyone to legitimately know how Democrats or Republicans voted at an individual level. In a precinct with 1000 Republicans and 1000 Democrats a 900 to 800 win for Trump could be because 900 Republicans voted for Trump or because 800 Republicans and 100 Democrats voted for Trump.

It is possible that some people who voted for Trump in 2016 may have voted for Biden in 2020. Maybe some Democrat really disliked Hillary Clinton, but thought Joe Biden was acceptable as an alternative to voting for a Republican. Or maybe the 2016 Trump voter died in 2019 and some ballot harvester marked and sent in their ballot.

These articles claiming people know percentages of voting based on party registration are really just relying on hunches, guesses, and occasionally survey data of limited accuracy.

Ten years ago maybe. Not now. The RINO uniparty faction must be stopped and driven from the party.

At this point, nominal Republicans who support Democrats are Communist fellow travelers.

Hey, Whitman.... know any moderate Democrats?

Merrick Garland was supposed to be "moderate" when he didn't have any power. Biden made him AG and now he is siccing the FBI and US Attorneys on parents who don't want CRT in schools. "Domestic terrororists."
