No more lockdowns EVER: Dom Perrottet vows to never shut down NSW again after the state opens up in just hours - and flags opening the international border in three weeks (Australia)
Daily Mail (Australia/UK) ^ | 10th October 2021 | Brett Lackey

Premier Dominic Perrottet has vowed to keep NSW open and avoid more lockdowns, saying he will use 'targeted restrictions' if needed to keep outbreaks of Covid in check.

He also suggested international borders could be opened for the vaccinated as early as November 1, two weeks ahead of the Morrison Government's plan.

Sydney's lockdown ends at 12.01am on Monday after the state reached the 70 per cent vaccination milestone, and the premier vows it will be the last one.

After 106 days in lockdown, the city's pubs and cafes will once again welcome patrons, gyms will re-open and up to 10 vaccinated guests can visit a home.

Funerals and weddings can go ahead with up to 100 attendees and groups of up to 30 people can gather outdoors.

Mr Perrottet, who has been in the state's top job for less than two weeks, said his 'intention' was that NSW would not have to endure another lockdown.

'The vaccination rates... across Sydney have been phenomenal and that protects us from ever having to go back [into lockdown], but we need to continue to open in a safe way,' he told The Sydney Morning Herald.

On the weekend NSW reached 90 per cent of residents over 16 receiving their first Covid vaccine dose - the largest percentage of any state or territory in the country with Victoria the next highest at about 85 per cent.

.....

'We would be focusing on targeted restrictions in circumstances where they are required but ultimately now, in a position with high vaccination rates, the people of NSW have ensured that we can live safely alongside the virus,' he said.

The 39-year-old said localised lockdowns would 'absolutely' only be used as a last resort.

I know some people here will say this doesn't go far enough, and I can understand that viewpoint.

But I think a lot of people outside Australia wouldn't understand all of the reasoning behind this approach.

Negotiating a national plan that will get all of Australia (including the most locked down state of Victoria and the equally paranoid states of Queensland and Western Australia who just aren't as bad as Victoria because lower case numbers have meant they haven't gone as far) back to something near normal in the relatively near future, has meant compromises have had to be made. If Perrottet threw the entire negotiated plan out of the window at this point, he would simply give the paranoids like Daniel Andrews in Victoria the excuse they are looking for to abandon the more limited commitments they've made. They might do so even without an excuse, but it would be guaranteed if Perrottet invalidated the national plan. On current planning even Victoria will be out of lockdown (though still with restrictions) in just over two weeks from now with lifting of further restrictions in about four weeks. We do not want that derailed. And there's no available constitutional mechanism to make Daniel Andrews do anything. It has to come from negotiations and they took months to get him to agree to even his glacially slow relaxation.

Indoor Weddings and Funerals ≤100 but only ≤30 folks gathering outside?

What "science"?

How do you mean?

Honestly, the bottom line is how risky is this disease?
Case FR about 1.8% here. Survival about 98.9%.

Does it really deserve this hysteria?

No.

I certainly hope our Aussie friends and allies get back to ‘normal’ soon and get their God-given freedoms back.

Targeted restrictions change nothing. They are free or they are not. If you are ill, stay home. Simple

No “science”. Just a bunch of numeric limitations to show they’re still in charge of your life.

Be thankful for the government’s benevolence, peons.

“Case FR about 1.8% here. Survival about 98.9%.“

When the “test” yields false positives at a rate of 94%, the CFR is waaaaaaay less than 1.8%.

EVERYTHING about “COVID” is a LIE.

“9. Lockdowns kill people. There is strong evidence that lockdowns – through social, economic and other public health damage – are deadlier than the “virus”.

“Dr David Nabarro, World Health Organization special envoy for Covid-19 described lockdowns as a “global catastrophe” in October 2020:

“We in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of the virus[…] it seems we may have a doubling of world poverty by next year. We may well have at least a doubling of child malnutrition […] This is a terrible, ghastly global catastrophe.”

“A UN report from April 2020 warned of 100,000s of children being killed by the economic impact of lockdowns, while tens of millions more face possible poverty and famine.

“Unemployment, poverty, suicide, alcoholism, drug use and other social/mental health crises are spiking all over the world. While missed and delayed surgeries and screenings are going to see increased mortality from heart disease, cancer et al. in the near future.

“The impact of lockdown would account for the small increases in excess mortality [Facts 2 & 6]”

Odd that the criteria is that you have to be vaccinated. What about those of us who have natural immunity? Isn’t immunity the point? These idiots, along with Fauci and Biden and my “governor,” Jay Dimslee, totally ignore natural immunity. Why???

Odd that the criteria is that you have to be vaccinated.

That is a product of the negotiation process, I mentioned. Vaccination targets were the only criteria the socialist state Premiers would agree to to agree to reopening.

What about those of us who have natural immunity? Isn’t immunity the point?

Those who have had COVID are considered vaccinated under these rules. But it's important to understand that because so few Australians have had COVID, that number is almost insignificant in terms of these target numbers.

That is what he is trying to do.

He’s been in office about a week. His state is opening up tomorrow.
