don’t look now, but the treaty was demanded by the USA back in 1977 to protect Alaska oil transit. Now the Canadians are saying, live up to the treaty.

In general terms, the feds here are not holding anyone in solitary without charge for their political beliefs. We don't have an all encompassing surveillance state like you do. We only have one federal police force and the vast majority of those guys are tasked with, well, policing, not harrassing their fellow citizens at school board meetings.
Unlike the US Canada is trying to maintain and build some infrastructure to supply energy to America but you don't seem to want it. Maybe you, Gene Eric, could actually grow some balls and help to stop your country's headlong rush to totalitarianism. Or does it make you feel better to criticize a neighbor and ally whose citizens are not being crushed quite so much as you are?
Curiously, the article doesn’t mention Canada-born, former MI Governor, paid CNN commenter, and current Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. She is downright dangerous. Bet the farm she is driving this situation. Witless Whitmer is just following orders.

I was, of course, referring to the hundreds being held in Washington jails without being charged after Jan 6. Did you hear about that?

Your criticism of US federal bungling of this issue is accurate, but I take issue with your claim that the Trudeau government is actually building some oil amd gas infrastructure. Trudeau has killed 2 pipelines: One from Alberta to BC, and another from Ontario to the Atlantic Provinces. A 3rd pipeline was abandoned due to federal regulations and endless delays caused by environmental and environmental claims. The Canadian government bought that partially built pipeline seemingly with the intent of ensuring it will never be completed. Couple this with Trudeau’s meek response to Biden’s cancellation of the Keystone pipeline, and you see an administration that is at least as anti-oil as that in Washington. The ONLY REASON Trudeau is raising a fuss about the Michigan situation is because 100 of his 160 seats are within the southern Ontario and Quebec areas that will grind to a halt if the pipeline is shut down. He knows it will be political suicide of that occurs.
