This is the expected outcome for the LEFTist favorite, 'microaggression', (a statement, action, or incident regarded as an instance of indirect, subtle, or unintentional discrimination against members of a marginalized group such as a racial or ethnic minority). Note the SUBJECTIVE nature of the 'offense' as defined! Who is the one that is 'regarding' the offense and what defines the offense? Simple answer is the 'victim' who perceives it, a minefield for others to tiptoe through!

Such is this pervasive POWER of victimhood that everyone has to self-censor and HOPE that they can AVOID accusation of offense!

PS: Leftist who invade restrooms and harass opponents at restaurants are exempt! Why you ask? The mere query like that is blatant microaggression!

I’ve been an avid and very active bird watcher for about 40 years. I also own and always recommend Sibley’s books.

NO MAS!

I’ve watched birds since I was a teenager, usually by myself but sometimes with groups of birders. The same is true of hiking, which is apparently now considered racist and exclusionary.

I have never seen anything that could be considered racist or anti-gay among either birders or hikers. Sometimes there’s a bit of geeky misogyny among male birders, similar to techie misogyny, because they can’t believe that women can know as much about birds. But that’s only among your fanatical, obsessive birdwatchers who will spend the entire day on a garbage dump with their telescope lenses because they have heard that a rare tern was spotted there.

Really, the only people who have ever been problematic are leftists who can’t seem to forget about their politics (including identity politics) ever, and insist on talking about it.

Aside from the fact that most birders don’t want anyone talking at all about anything at all, since it scares the birds away, when I think back on groups, it’s only been the identity politics types (“feminists” or gays, which now are almost one and the same) that have ever been unpleasant to be out with.

Bird watching requires calm, thoughtful observation. The ability to catalog and keep record of birds witnessed and birds yet to be seen. As a community they keep record of who has seen what rare birds, where and when.

It also requires a love and respect for nature and the outdoors.

It's a white thing and we should be proud of that and who we are as a people.

I can’t even chuckle at stuff like this anymore. It’s not a joke - it’s serious. They’re rewriting history and changing laws based on their extremely denial-based ideology. The stupid things they’re doing right now are going to have long-ranging effects that will keep creating damage regardless of who’s in office.

The Left has been working on this Reset for a long time. Most of us don’t even realize how long they have been maneuvering for position. Why do you think they’re still pitching a fit about Trumpy? He caused a delay of a few years in the Reset.

Just think - if Hilldog had managed to win by cheating, this would have started in 2017, right? The world would be a completely different place right now after a few years of Freak Authoritarianism.

If there’s anything people can innocently enjoy - and birdwatching is certainly one of those things - the Left will try to eff it up good and proper. I used to participate on some message boards where people discussed pet birds; one day everything was fine and people were talking about their damned pet birds, right? Almost in the blink of an eye a bunch of trolls start lecturing everyone, from proper bird care (you’re always doing something wrong that will kill your bird and maybe everyone in the house, too!) to why people shouldn’t keep pets to “Who wants to join my Doomsday group and live in a big barn out in the woods of Vermont?” You can always tell when the Left comes in. They mean to destroy and subjugate.

Combating voter fraud is a subject that should be on everyone’s mind and in everyone’s mouth. We only have a couple of chances left to straighten things out. No pun intended. Well, maybe a little.

It is nauseating. I read about three lines and now I’m going to spend my time watching the Chickadees at my feeder and not reading this absolute trash.

Birds don’t love everyone. They generally don’t love. They eat, breed, and fight. Genuine friendship may exist but not between species. I’ve never seen a mocking bird hanging out with a crow for example. Male gold finches fight off everyone from their territory including other gold finches except their own hens. Anyone who has kept chickens or ducks know that if circumstances are not good, the chickens fight and sometimes kill each other.

“. They don’t have to think about race or gender, because it doesn’t affect them every single day, like it does so many others …’”

Well now that all depends on where you are. Urban and rural areas are quite different.

I happen to be a non-white male that has been birding and photographing birds all over the West for 40 years. As a group, birders are like any other group of people. You find cliques, but you also find birding groups organize social events to get to know other birders. You run into unfriendly individuals, but you also meet helpful, wonderful people who love sharing their expertise and joy in the hobby. Mostly birding is not a group activity as the larger a group the more skittish birds become. Sometimes you have to walk long distances just sit still for an hour to just see a target bird. Bird photography is definitely for loners. It’s not antisocial, it’s just the nature of the hobby.

As far as renaming birds because of the “racist” origin of its name, that is too ridiculous to even dignify with a comment. What can I say? We live live in a society of Woke idiots.

We are going to have to bring back the insane asylums and populate them with the woke zombies.

The men in the white coats will symbolize white male hegemony as they drag these dirtballs away...

The recovering insane will be able to be released when they make a public verbal and written confession that white men created civilization and they are deeply appreciative of it.

While Sibley’s books are beautiful and I own a few, they are now going into the dumpster.

“Hey, man, quit trying to molest the birds!”

“(Snivvvellll)! How DARE you call me a man, you cisgendered, transphobic, oppressive racist Nazi! I am engaging in cross species luv!”

“Yeah, well the bird you had been ‘luv’-ing has been reduced to a dead clump of beak, blood and feathers, though that hasn’t seemed to slow you down any.” “Bob, be a good guy and fetch me my shotgun.”
