Swedish health officials on Wednesday paused usage of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for younger people and children after reports of possible side effects including myocarditis, while Denmark also announced that it halted the shot for those under the age of 18.
Officials have “decided to pause the use of Moderna’s vaccine, Spikevax, for everyone born in 1991 and later, for precautionary reasons,” reads a statement from the Swedish health agency published on Wednesday, according to a translation from Swedish to English.
The agency further added there is “an increased risk of side effects such as inflammation of the heart muscle or heart sac,” noting that the risk is “very small.”
The agency said it now recommends the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine instead for people born in 1991 or later, noting that the decision is valid until Dec. 1. Those from that age group who got the first Moderna dose should not get a second dose, the agency added.
New data from Swedish and other Nordic sources “indicate that the connection is especially clear” between Moderna’s vaccine and side effects “especially after the second dose.”
“Both myocarditis and pericarditis often go away on their own, without causing any lasting problems, but suspicious symptoms should be assessed by a doctor at … a health center or emergency room,” said the agency. But it noted that “medical treatment and monitoring in hospital may be needed in established cases.”
The Swedish health agency said earlier in the week that people aged 12 to 15 can only get the Pfizer vaccine.
In July, the European Medicines Agency, the European Union’s chief drug regulator, recommended authorizing Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12 to 17. It came months after the Moderna vaccine was given approval for use in anyone aged 18 and older across the 27-nation bloc in January.
Both U.S. and European regulators have cautioned that the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, which use mRNA technology, are linked to chest pain and heart inflammation in young people and children, although those agencies have frequently said those reactions are rare.
In nearby Denmark, those under the age of 18 cannot be given the Moderna vaccine out of a precaution, said health regulators in the country on Wednesday. The agency said that data obtained from four Nordic nations show there is a link of an increased risk of heart inflammation when younger people receive the Moderna shots.
“Based on the precautionary principle, we will in future only invite children and young people to receive this vaccine, not least in view of the fact that it is for this vaccine that the largest amount of data from use exists for children and young people, especially from the USA and Israel,” said Danish health official Bolette Soeborg in an interview with The Associated Press.
Moderna’s shares were down by as much as 4.15 percent on Wednesday morning.
COVID-19 is the illness caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus.
good for them following REAL SCIENCE.
rather than the CDC which see deaths and morbidity,
and altered data to make it seem “safe”
and STILL demands it for the fetus
all pregnant women and nursing mothers.
NEVER HAS THE USA SEEN SUCH EVIL.
Ping.
UK Judge orders Government to provide evidence in court that justifies Covid-19 Vaccination of Children in legal challenge to halt roll-out of the jabs to Kidshttps://t.co/ZqxeqQadfX— Robert W Malone, MD (@RWMaloneMD) October 6, 2021
As I remember reading, Pfizer is testing and seeking approval for a much reduced dose in younger children.
for me:
first Moderna shot - arm muscle tenderness for 24 hours
second Moderna shot - arm muscle tenderness for 80 hours & too weak to leave home for a day & slight nerve sensations & (quite dark urine that may have been due to a vaccine muscle side effect - I can’t say for sure since I didn’t remember what I ate beforehand or how much I drank)
I’m 62 and I am likely to gain enough benefit from my vaccination to justify those levels of side effects.
“Pfizer-BioNTech released results Sept. 20 of a pivotal study on the vaccine’s effectiveness and safety in children ages 5 to 11.
“The trial gathered data from 2,298 participants and found that a 10 µg dose – about a third of the adult dose – built robust neutralizing antibody responses in children, similar to those seen in adults.”

I’m not aware of any technical reasons why the Pfizer or Moderna products should be treated differently for regulatory purposes.
Any such technical reasons should be publicly stated by regulators or the vaccine maker.
Pfizer has done the best marketing job, while disparaging other vaccines... And sadly, Pfizer appears to be the weakest vaccine on the market and booster shots are needed after 5 or 6 months.
Moderna, AstraZeneca and J&J last longer... But have been savaged by the makers of Pfizer, who happen to come from Germany coincidently.
If it is causing this problem in people under 18, then obviously the same problem is going to occur in all age groups.
They can call it a coincidence in older patients, but the instances of these coincidences in young people is just too big to bury.
They are killing children who are at zero risk from the disease.
The evidence is mounting.
It doesn’t kill everyone, Brian. But, like the disease, it kills some.
You don’t know which group you are going to be in until it’s too late.
