BANGOR, Maine (AP) — The headlining event of this year’s Maine Science Festival will be a musical exploration of climate change.
The organizers of the festival said they commissioned composer Lucas Richman to create a symphony about hope in the era of climate change in the Gulf of Maine. The gulf is warming faster than most of the world’s oceans.
The organizers said the Bangor Symphony Orchestra will perform the premier of the work, called “The Warming Sea,” at the Maine Science Festival on March 19.
Festival organizers said Richman’s work was informed by discussions with scientists, researchers, experts and Maine middle school students.

The symphony should be one of those atonal abominations to celebrate human stupidity and gullibility.
Translation: the musicians have no skill and so hitch their wagon to a political movement so critics won’t say what kind of dreck it is and you get a base of idiots at NPR and public tv who will give you free airtime.
...”informed by discussions with scientists, researchers, experts and Maine middle school students.”
...Hahahahahaha!!! He forgot, “smart people”, “brainy folks” and “reliable sources”.
A racket is sure to be what this new masterpiece is. Kinda like the "climate change" movement itself. It sure made algore a billionaire!
Let’s set the lies to music!
Will the Oboe or Tuba be used for the cow fart part?
Loons, one and all. My pastor stated yesterday that this country was doomed. He's right.
i would counter it with symphony of destruction by megadeth... 😁...
They (megadeath) presumably have talent and an audience.
Not a fair fight.
Variations on Highway to Hell
You should see my interpretive dance that goes with this symphony.
so will all the attendees and performers walk or ride their bike to the festival? otherwise they are hypocrites.
If the attendees and performers really cared about climate change they would take their carbon footprint to zero.
Either they drink the Kool-Aid or they are hypocrites.
I am a musician who loves nearly every genre (Although my favorites are Classic Rock and Classical), but I really loathe “Modern Classical” orchestral music. Atonal, Pretentious, Agenda-Driven, Self-Righteous, Smug-Ugly, and downright Asinine, most of it (with few shining exceptions) is a complete waste of the years of training and talent that goes into the process of being a member of a Symphony Orchestra.
Modern Orchestral Music, in my humble opinion, is the equivalent of “The Emperor’s New Clothes”.
Nobody in the audience dare say out loud that it is pure junk without risking the approbation and marginalization of the “Intellectual” Limousine Liberals in their crowd.
If you want to sit at the Cool-Kids-Table in the Orchestral Music Scene, you must hide any scorn you may find rising in your gorge concerning this drivel.
There.
I’ve said it.
Flame Away.
(((PS. Bernstein’s Overture to “Candide” is actually quite nice, as is Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”, so there are exceptions, like I said.)))
We can expect stormy weather, come rain or come shine. I’m dreaming of a white Christmas.
I love Symphonic Music.
You won’t be seeing me in Maine.
(One reason that they are called Maniacs!)
You would think “Maniacs,” would like some warming...
Summertime is only July 29-30.
“Oboe or Tuba be used for the cow fart part?”
The Bassoon, man, the Bassoon!
