Chinese military flew 16 warplanes over waters south of Taiwan on Sunday as the United States expressed concern about what it called China's "provocative military action" near the self-governing island that China claims.
China sent 38 warplanes into the area on Friday and 39 aircraft on Saturday, the most in a single day since Taiwan began releasing reports on the flights in September 2020. The flights came in daytime and nighttime sorties, and it wasn't clear if China was planning more flights on Sunday night.
A statement from U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price warned that China's military activity near Taiwan risks miscalculation and undermines regional peace and stability.
"We urge Beijing to cease its military, diplomatic, and economic pressure and coercion against Taiwan," the statement said.
It added that the United States, Taiwan's biggest supplier of arms, would continue to help the government maintain a sufficient self-defense capability.
China and Taiwan split in 1949 during a civil war in which the Communists took control of mainland China and the rival Nationalists set up a government on Taiwan, an island of 24 million people about 160 kilometers (100 miles) off the east coast.

Yep, Taiwan will not fight if they do not think we have their back. I can see China walking right into Taiwan in the next 2-6 months. China will make Taiwan a deal they can still be autonomus but slowly assimilated by China
It’s not just the chip plants. It the tech. China currently cannot match western tech on chip circuitry.

I would be surprised if China did a deal. First of all, after HK, no one would believe them. Second, The CCP would want Taiwan under control before Biden gets out of office so a future president, like Trump, cannot come to their aid.

It means the US with its appearance of not leaving Afghanistan in April as Trump had planned but getting chased out by an undersupplied undermanned group of scum leaving no one with any spine to finish what was started has indicated a weak capacity enough to challenge our footing in being recognized as formidable. We are a laughing stock among many nations now that would never have challenged us and our strengths both militarily. governmentally, and financially due to the complete reversal of the power that we had last year. Tack on acts like the election fraud, the border problems, the infighting in our different governmental entities like feds to state, state to county and city, and the lack of interaction of everyone with the media tossing lie bombs into the middle it, and our lack of control of products and movement to the people using covid to maneuver everyone from productivity with lies and over reacting, and we’ve got a he(( of a publicity problem with the negative impressions of confidence and control of anything at all to include standing up for ourselves, let alone our international commitments.
Not everyone out there is concerned about us any more and they are going to push the envelope on a continual basis until the US acts accordingly and pushes back. Biden won’t. He’ll run like the milksop he is and they will take advantage of it.
Look for Taiwan and South Korea to be attacked. Look for countries like Turkey, Saudi, Germany, the Muslim growing UK, Russia and a few others that will tell us to go to he(( when we demand something. Look for the UN, NATO and the other 80 organizations we belong to internationally to tell us they don’t need us because we are of no value anymore.

The US has been the only organization to hold the world together since the early 1900’s. But we’ve been put in the corner, voluntarily by he Biden administration, with no release in sight and more trips on the horizon. The Korean missiles and the Chinese flybys are just the first middle fingers to go up. Get used to hiding your face.
