PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Four Legacy Health urgent care clinics are closed for the foreseeable future.
Legacy’s locations are closed in West Linn, Lake Oswego, the Pearl District and Camas. Although the company has confirmed the closures are due to lack of staffing, Legacy has not stated those staffing issues are caused by the state-wide COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare workers.
However, KOIN 6 News spoke to Leah Peterson — an employee who says she will quit when the October 18 deadline to be vaccinated arrives. She works directly with patients at Legacy Silverton Medical Center as a sonographer, performing ultrasounds.
Their masters degrees in 17th century transgender poetry can easily translate into hard sciences.

Ironically the people they are losing are usually among the best and most productive, be they RNs or janitors.

I still don’t understand what people think they gain by quitting rather than forcing the company fire them? The cost and decision to fire would likely cause some companies to change their mind. At the end of the day, I think people wimp out rather than force the issues.

Do you really want to continue working for a pfascist company that wanted to fire you? They're working on your replacement, guaranteed. Why not leave when it's advantageous to you, not them? No muss, no fuss, see you later.
Often, the first who jump ship get hired by the competition. Those who wait too long might find themselves in a tight hiring market (except for the other now-desperate pfascist employers). I worked at a company that had a race for the exits and ironically, some of the first out the door became bosses who months later had their former supervisors at the old company come interviewing for a subordinate job.
Some people also don't want to explain in the future when someone asks them "have you ever been fired by a previous employer?"

How about a different take, some companies are changing their mind based on the fear of having to actually fire their employees. Thus, those employees caused good and get to continue jobs they may have liked instead of cutting and running, losing seniority, and maybe benefits.
