"but also the sanctity of its precedents and of the rule of law,"

IMHO using case law is what chips away at the Constitution. The foremost point of every SCOTUS opinion needs to cite the Constitution.

I’m still trying to understand where in the Constitution does it say a woman has a right to an abortion?

I agree. A unconstitutional decision is not law.

I hope she is really miserable in writing all those dissents. She deserves much worse for using the bench to murder innocent unborn babies.

Nowhere does this “Wise Latina” (implying that there are many unwise Latinas) ever discuss the question of “when does life begin?”

The most frequent argument is about women impregnated by rape.

This is such an easy one to debunk....first, pregnancy by rape is miniscule. Second, there is Plan B available over the counter. But even then, that unfortunate raped woman has 6 weeks to take action before any restrictions set in.

With crisis centers and hospitals fully organized to support women who have been raped, there is no excuse for a raped woman to wait more than 6 weeks to terminate the product of a crime.

I agree 100%. Case law can perpetuate bad as well as good decisions - AND can reflect the political biases of the decision makers at the time. It's interesting that the same people who want the Constitution to be thought of as a 'living and changeable document' also want case law to stand as gospel.

IMHO the legal system in the US is way more broken than the medical system has ever been.

Mean while, down at the union hall... "There is going to be a lot of disappointment in the law, a huge amount," she said Wednesday at an event hosted by the American Bar Association."

The DC lawyers are in a real snit about the American people trying to recover just a small bit of constitutional sanity to OUR nation..

Hang in there 3 more years Wide Latina! You need to not croak before Trump’s 2nd term so he can replace you instead of resident Biden.

ME LIKE!! If she thinks a lot of her ilk will be disappointed in the new term’s decisions, that seems like a very positive thing.

Her deferral to the “sanctity of precedents” is breathtaking in its hypocrisy. Leftists excel in jettisoning long-established law.

As if Sotomayer cares about the law. She votes her policy views with little regard for the constitution as do the other 2 liberal stooges on the court. If she feels it is unconstitutional, then she should enjoy a taste of her own medicine when it comes to policy. No one elected this dumb racebaiter. She represents no one.
