Poll Shows Most Americans Wildly Overestimate COVID Hospitalization Risks: Is the Media to Blame?

A new Gallup poll shows that when it comes to COVID risks, a lot of Americans have no idea what’s going on.

The poll, involving 3,158 adult Americans, tells us that 41% of Democrats believe the unvaccinated have a 50% chance of being hospitalized because of COVID. Independents believe the correct number is 26%, while Republicans came in at 22%. The correct answer: Fewer than 1% of unvaccinated people infected with COVID will have to go to the hospital.

While Republicans were more likely to overestimate the risk of vaccinated COVID patients being admitted to a hospital, both groups are off by a mile.(Credit: Gallup)

The hospitalization rate for both vaccinated and unvaccinated COVID patients is under 1%. The hospitalization rate for vaccinated COVID patients is 0.01%, or 1 out of every 10,914 patients, while the hospitalization rate for unvaccinated COVID patients is 0.89%, or 1 out of 112 patients.

This poll is based on American COVID patients and doesn’t include recent data from Israel showing that 59% of COVID patients in the hospital were fully vaccinated.

FACT-O-RAMA! Statistics from the Johns Hopkins website show us that the United States has a COVID survivability rate of 98.4%, meaning 1.6% of Americans with COVID die. Turkey has the highest survivability rate at 99.1%.

It’s no surprise that so many people on both sides of the aisle don’t have the correct answers. Politicians, celebrities, and news outlets regurgitate different COVID “information” and opinions, depending on their political leanings.

Rep. Ritchie Torres, a Democrat from New York City, wants to keep unvaccinated people off airplanes.

I guess the media is to blame, but really the problem is the stupid people who believe the fake news media and are so easily brainwashed.

Or to spread the blame around even more widely - maybe the smart people need to start asserting themselves like they did in the old days.

I remember my grandfathers and great uncles made a point of making me feel foolish if I said or did something foolish. They would give me that withering look of puzzlement that said “are you really that stupid?”

Teachers back then had no problem shaming stupidity. They literally had “dunce caps” and made you sit facing the corner. OK, maybe that was a little before my time…

But perhaps we need to go back to that. Make sure the stupid know they are stupid. If nobody is going to point out stupidity, why would anyone make the effort to rise above it?

I think it's true that an ever increasing number of Americans are pathological hypochondriacs.

I think that's pretty much right on target. To my eye -- and for others, I realize, their mileage may vary -- what we are seeing is ultimately a spiritual problem. Too many aging baby boomers without God in their lives have been sensitized to the realization that, no, they aren't going to live forever ... and it has terrified them.

And so we see the phenomenon developing where the younger generations are being asked to sacrifice (if not be sacrificed) for their elders. Since when has that ever been the prevailing sentiment in any culture? This attitude seems to have developed regardless of political or ideological orientation. Again, I perceive the dividing line here to be a spiritual one. I suppose that when "science" is one's god, then medicine (including vaccines) will serve as one's sacraments.

As it is -- and here I confess I may be feeling less than charitable -- I find it hard not to view the most rabid vaxxer proponents as grotesque, gutless hypochrondiacs.

Vaxed probably has a lower survivability rate.

Can we now proclaim that the COVID-19 pandemic was a manufactured HOAX?

99.?% survive anyway.

Seasonal flu DISAPPEARS when COVID appears.

“WITH” COVID becomes “FROM” COVID.

“Pneumonia” (bacterial infection) becomes “COVID Pneumonia” (viral infection).

I wonder what would happen if the government paid/reimbursed at a much higher rate if patients were classified as having/dying from COVID?

I wonder what would happen if doctors refused/were prevented from prescribing life saving treatments/prophylactics (a medicine or course of action used to prevent disease.) like Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin?

I wonder what would happen if hospitalized patients were put on ventilators, sedated, refused family member visits, and refused life saving treatments.

I wonder how “safe” a vaccine, developed at “warp speed”, would be if we granted immunity from being sued to BIG PHARMA?

I wonder where we would be now if we never adopted “15 days to slow the spread,” ?

FULL herd immunity?

If course the media is to blame. The media almost single-handedly created the hype and shut downs. If not for them, we might still have a President Trump.

Think about what we see on the news and the misinformation they spread, it is more poisonous than COVID

The stats, all the stats, have always been crap.

NYS, for example, counts asymptomatics, probables, and repeat positives of the same patient as new cases.

As for deaths, if you look at NYS enemedia outlets, when stories on deaths are done, you’ll see wording like “died with”, not “died from”.

Right now in the UK the CoupFlu dead are running about three years older than the average lifespan in the UK.

Wanna easily see if US CoupFlu death stats are cooked, check the number of deaths the last couple of years for dementia and failure to thrive. If the number of death certificates with either/both of those listed has declined, then I’d say that warrants a hard look at the deaths attributed to CoupFlu.

The article is loaded with agenda. It means nothing if not age grouped, and it means nothing if samples are taken January - July. That is sampling a virus that no longer exists. Sample Delta, month of August and only August, and only Delta.

1) Stop with the comorbidity obsession. The issue is age. 79% of people over 65 have hypertension and hypertension is a comorbidity. Since nearly everyone old has it, it’s not a “comorbidity”. Being old is the comorbidity. Being old is the risk factor and it’s largely inescapable.

2) The VA just released numbers to a good article that makes clear something hugely important. Everyone hospitalized/admitted for any reason gets a Covid test. 100% true of VA hospitals and likely mostly true of civilian hospitals. This will inform docs and nurses of how careful they must be around patients admitted for any reason at all. Many hospitalized patients are not there for Covid, but a great many are. The VA released the definitive test, likely again also used at civilian hospitals. It is a specific blood oxygen number. This defines “Severe Covid Disease”. If someone is below the number and Covid positive, they have Severe Covid Disease. There is no judgement involved.

3) So these numbers for odds of hospitalization for Covid mean nothing. People are admitted for a compound fracture and test positive, they corrupt the numbers. People who get sick and do not know their blood oxygen is low try to tough it out at home corrupt the numbers in the other direction.

4) The numbers for odds particularly mean nothing when not age specific. The 35 year old who doesn’t want to be denied attending a football game rages that the 70 year olds should take care of themselves and not bother him. So he walks around infected but asymptomatic, breeding mutations, and rejects the concept that this is dangerous.

A little full disclosure. This rate was arrived at by ONLY counting CONFIRMED cases. The estimate of those who had it and were never tested or visited a doctor is easily twice the official number. That means the mortality rate is at least half of what is claimed.

Also, Johns Hopkins has been eyeballs deep in the Covid scam since Nov-2019 with it’s event 201 exercise.

1) Stop with the comorbidity obsession. The issue is age. 79% of people over 65 have hypertension and hypertension is a comorbidity.

Except that that isn't what the clinical data indicate at all. Rather, "essential hypertension" has been found not to be a risk factor at all for an adverse outcome.

Overweight/obesity is pretty much the only risk factor that moves the needle with respect to adverse COVID outcomes. People don't want to hear that, of course, because that begins to suggest that they might be responsible in some way for their own state of health. People prefer to live however they want and then get their "health" from a pill or out of a syringe.

The media are guilty indeed, but so are “public health experts” that fail to contextualize their data.

1) Dementia
2) Hypertension
. . .
6) Obesity

I looked up USA stats a couple of days ago.

There are apprx 65 million unvaccinated people.

There are apprx 80,000 people hospitalized because of/with the virus on any given day, currently.

About 1800 die from the virus each day, currently.

Do the math

80,000/65,000,000 = 80/650,000 = 8/65,000 = .8/6,500 = 1 out of 8,125 unvaccinated people are hospitalized.

yeah but that is not the question. The article’s statement on hosptialization rate specified “COVID Patients”.

So what percent of unvaccinated Covid patients get hosptialized?

The hospital ER I work in has a handful of Covid cases, less than a dozen. Compared to this time last year there has been a major improvement.

People who aren’t dealing with this and seeing the situation first hand day in and week out ought to shut up.
