Construction kicked off Tuesday on a 19-story homeless housing project designed to reshape a corner of skid row in the image of more well-to-do environs.
The metal-and-glass high-rise will “improve the neighborhood through architecture," Weingart Chief Executive Kevin Murray said in announcing the conceptual plan by Joseph Wong Design Associates in a 2017 interview. AXIS/GFA Architecture + Design is the project architect.
“One of the things we asked the architect is we don’t want it to look like a housing project,” Murray, a former state senator, said “We want it to look like one of these other first-class downtown apartments.”

What could possibly go wrong?
Also known as ballot fortification centers and for other purposes........
That is around $575,000 per unit! For homeless refusing to work, panhandlers, mental hindered, etc.? Why not something more affordable, durable?

State of the art will have human feces smeared on it within
30 days of occupancy.
Might just as well take the cost of the building, and burn
the cash to keep them warm on the street.

Pruitt-Igoe.
There is nothing new under the sun.

The people who built Pruitt-Igoe and the Robert Taylor Homes had high hopes too.
basic income
$575K per... from an “affordable housing developer “ .

You’ve got that right! I saw an interview (Project Veritas?) with a guy that ran a homeless shelter. One of the things they do for people that stay there is register them to vote using the shelter address. By the time elections come around, the people are long gone, but the mail-in ballots go- guess where?
so basically it’s a high rise, luxury poop factory
Have nothing through one’s own poor life choices? Don’t worry. Responsible people will take care of you in ways better than they can afford for themselves and their own families. Just be sure to vote Democrat to keep the free stuff flowing.
Ugh!
Will occupants be screened for drug use?
