Holdouts Remain for Businesses Requiring COVID Shot, Potentially Expanding Worker Shortage

Businesses requiring their workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 are still facing some holdouts, prompting concern that workers fired for not getting the vaccine will expand the staffing shortages across the country.

The Biden administration has said that companies will face $13,600 fines per violation and mandatory weekly testing will be the alternative to being vaccinated.

Delta Air Lines stopped short of requiring vaccination but said that starting in November, unvaccinated workers on the company health plan will pay a $200 monthly surcharge.

At least our kid’s company is offering weekly testing along with the vaccination requirement.
————— His company is not offering weekly testing, they are forced to do so by Biden, and Biden is paying for it, with taxpayer money.

My company, (a very large defense contractor) was supposed to issue vax "guidance" last Friday, but punted again.

I think maybe they really don't want to lose 25% of their engineering, sales, and field support personnel, and are hoping to just run out the clock.

Not only do they not want to lose their workforce BUT if ANY of their staff members have adverse effects the company is legally responsible for mandating the vaccine!! Big Pharma not responsible HOWEVER the employer WILL BE accountable for mandating it!! They don’t want the massive lawsuits that are possible!!

weekly testing should always be an alternative to vaccination. It makes contact tracing easier. If people want to risk getting infected that’s their choice as long as it can be nipped in the bud and caught in time to treat.

Do you think we should have weekly testing for influenza, hiv/aids, tuberculosis, hepatitus, hpv, norovirus...?

I said “at least” because some companies and certainly the Federal government are *forcing* employees to either be vaccinated or get fired.

Exact same story with the defense contractor I work for. They’re kind of looking the other way for as long as they can because they know they’ll lose a lot of us if they try to push a mandate.
