Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) blocked an effort by Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) to bypass the 60-vote legislative filibuster on a debt ceiling hike.
Schumer tried to get an agreement to set up a simple majority vote on a bill to suspend the nation's borrowing limit, which would bypass the filibuster and let Democrats raise it without GOP support.
"Simply allow for a simple majority threshold to raise the debt ceiling and avoid this needless catastrophe that Republicans have steered us toward," Schumer said.

Thank God Trump had a background in business or he would have spent even more then 7 trillion he spent in 4 years.
And the response should be. :We already have misery, disease and death. Let's go ahead and bring the debt down too. We appear to have over employment as people are turning down jobs, So this infrastructure job creator is not necessary.

Well they shut down the Fed government a couple times during Trumps first year guess it’s political payback..
If the US Government defaults on their debt can’t see anyway the GOP won’t be blamed...
