Hi.
This a multiple choice question:
Given the zeitgeist currently existing in the United States, in what novel are we living?
A. Animal House
B. 1984
C. Idiocracy
D. Atlas Shrugged
Extra credit for other options. I.E. A Brave New World.
Dune doesn’t count.
5.56mm
There’s no way we’re living in Dune. Everyone is too competent, thoughtful, and well-spoken in that book.
Animal House ?
Like when the Nazis bombed Pearl Harbor ?
It’s not a novel, but we are living in the Book of Isaiah. Ezekiel is coming and then the next book really gets fun.
I pick “Divergent”.
Just like the premise behind that series, everyone with the jab will receive DNA equal to put them into certain factions.
As for myself, I am Divergent, and I will be factionless.
I see it as a confluence of all of those, plus a little Ghostbusters, Dave (where the president is replaced with a look-alike actor because he died banging a hooker or something like that), toss in some “Joe vs. the Volcano”, and you’ve got what I see going on
-- Brave New World
-- A Clockwork Orange
-- Fahrenheit 451
-- The Road
