Chinese President Xi Jinping yesterday warned that relations between Beijing and Taipei were “grim”, urging the island’s main opposition party to help seek “unification of the country.” China views Taiwan as part of its territory and vows to retake it one day, by force if necessary. Xi has become the most bellicose leader since Mao Zedong, describing the seizure of the island as “inevitable.” In a congratulatory letter to Eric Chu — the newly elected leader of the Beijing-friendly Kuomintang (KMT) party — Xi said the Chinese Communist Party and the KMT should collaborate under a “shared political basis.” “In the past our two parties insisted on ‘1992 consensus’ and opposing ‘Taiwan independence’...to promote peaceful developments in cross- strait relations,” Xi said in the letter released by the KMT. “At present the situation in the Taiwan Strait is complex and grim,” he said, urging the parties to jointly seek peace and “the unification of the country.” Ties between Taiwan and China improved markedly under former president Ma Ying-jeou of the KMT between 2008 and 2016, culminating with a landmark meeting between Xi and him in Singapore in 2015. The KMT has side-stepped frictions with China by accepting the so-called 1992 consensus — a tacit agreement that there is only “one China” without specifying whether Beijing or Taipei is its rightful representative. In response, Chu said in a letter to Xi that the two sides should “seek common ground and respect their differences” to promote peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. Beijing has stepped up military, diplomatic and economic pressure on Taiwan since the 2016 election of President Tsai Ing-wen, who views the island as a sovereign nation and not part of “one China.”
Police, Fire, Military Being Gutted by Vaccine Mandate: Is This China's Plan to Destroy the USA?
I have bad news and good news.I'll save the good news for the end -- because you need to know there is hope. The bad news is ...
Taiwan was NEVER property of the Chinese mainland. It isn’t
trying to get anything back. It wants to expand.
It won’t stop there folks.
China is eyeing the planet.
Tinpot barbarian Xi has it backwards.
Mainland China is Taiwanese territory. The people of Taiwan are the real “Chinese”.
Sounds like he’s setting up the false narrative before military action?
Taiwan makes most of the world’s chips.
China wants control of them.
During the Trump years, Taiwan Semiconductor announces plans to build a $15 Billion chip plant in Arizona.
I think they announced earlier this year it will be a $25 Billion investment.
With Biden as president don’t be surprised if they make the claim that once upon a time Guam and Hawaii used to be part of China. Sending Chinese warships to Hawaii may just be that.
When Fascist Germany needed to expand to keep it’s system going it caused WWII.
When Fascist China does the same with Taiwan it could be WWIII.
With leadership like what we have right now, it’s hard to
argue with that.
Good. I wouldn’t mind some of their best and brightest
employees coming here.
I think Guam would be a natural target for them. It intrudes
into what they think of as their rightful region of power.
If it weren’t a military base, it might get less attention,
but I would have to think it’s on their radar.
Hawaii could be seen as pretty much the same thing as China
pushes out into the Western Pacific.
Unification is simple. Let the Communists on the mainland surrender to the legitimate government of the Republic of China.
We are laying the foundation for very tough times, and not just
for our nation.
We are looking at global destabilization, because when other nations
perceive attention is placed elsewhere, they become adventurous also.
Putin would love to see a Western Pacific dust up by China and the U. S.
He wants Eastern Europe back.
If Taiwan chooses to fight it out, the Red Chinese will sustain very heavy casualties. The Taiwan armed forces have good reputation for being professional as far as my research can tell. Taiwan is 100 miles off the coast of China. Taiwan will see them coming.
Xi is a joke. And so is Eric Chu. So is roman soldier, for that matter, who always tries to get people to be scared of the Chinese Communists.
When the President is on the Chinese payroll and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs pledges his allegiance to China I doubt China has to worry much about sparking a war with the USA right now. They have nothing to worry about.
threat to take back Guam and Hawaii....
Don’t worry. Biden will sternly yell at Xi for being a lying, dog faced pony soldier and Xi will back down in fright. Maybe.
