About that California cargo ship "log jam" . . .

January 23, 2017

In the opening hours of his first formal day in the White House on Monday, President Trump welcomed leaders from several of the country's largest corporations and promised to wipe out at least 75 percent of government regulations that hinder their businesses, fast-track their plans to open factories and cut taxes “massively.”

And he again threatened to impose a “substantial border tax” on companies that move production out of the country.

“We're going to be cutting regulation massively,” Trump told a large group of business chief executives over breakfast, which was briefly open to the news media. “Now, we're going to have regulation, and it'll be just as strong and just as good and just as protective of the people as the regulation we have right now. The problem with the regulation that we have right now is that you can't do anything. ... I have people that tell me that they have more people working on regulations than they have doing product.”

We have a $400 (cheap cheap) Value City sofa sitting on one of those ships. The delivery date has been pushed back 3x.

Most here probably haven’t bumped into this shortage situation yet. The U.S. has had it good so far. I did notice some empty shelves at the Dollar Store the other day!

I think the sofa we ordered is actually coming from Viet Vietnam. May be forced to go out and buy American-made. (We wanted “cheap” because our animals will destroy it in a couple of years.)

It’s all part of the plan to Make America Subservient To Elitists Redux (MASTER). And I’ll say it again, I so despise commies.

They're trying to create a new Aristocracy, or what I call the "Just-Us" system....

You must be in a place with a low population density. Have shortages in my locale all the time. Bare shelves, low inventory is a constant here. As for "dollar" stores, the Dollar Generals have been getting only one truck a week when they're supposed to be getting three.

I’m in Charlotte. Guess there’s a benefit to being stuck in a blue city after all.

Now that I think about it...the last Dollar Store I was in, was in Alexandria VA two weeks ago. It was in good shape. Charlotte could be another story. Plus, Sam’s Club is now limiting some stuff...tp, paper towels, bottled water. Went there today based on an article I saw here about tp shortages.

Just saw where Costco is now limiting purchases on the same items as Sam's Club - tp prominently mentioned. Aw heck, here we go again (?).

At Sam’s, I was limited to one bundle of Charmin tp and one bundle of Bounty paper towels. I bought those.

When I got home, it occurred to me to try the Sam’s app. I was able to order two different types of Charmin (one blue & one red, limit of one per type), but no Bounty paper towels (limit of one, but they were out). I get free shipping.

If I was serious about stocking up...I’d go back to the store tomorrow and buy my limit of one each...and then do the online order. But I’m not getting caught up in all that. Just wanted a few extra bundles...just in case.
