Why are we paying for their Iron Dome?
Or is this just authorizing the sale?
I think the reason is to stop Israel from going on the offensive to finally end any rocket attacks.
This would further destabilize the area (kill Abraham accords) and also create more terrorists by extension.
I think. But that is my speculation on the geopolitical reason.
We are providing them the money. It’s what we do, support the world while tearing ourselves down. It’s the American way dontcha know.
“In a way, Raytheon still comes out as a partial winner, as the Dynetics platform used the Raytheon-produced AIM-9X Sidewinder interceptor.”

With Saudi Arabia, almost all of the foreign aid they git had to be spent in America. I wonder if the same applies here. I doubt you can just go shopping for Iron Domes in the international market, looking for a bargain. Probably as much a shot at the military-Industrial complex as it is at Israel.
The alternative to funding Iron Dome is Israel striking Hamas rocket sites hidden among Palestinian civilians risking injury and death. The progressive Democrats want to take away Israels defensive means to make them potentially cause civilian deaths making them look bad. They’re willing to trade innocent lives for political gain. It’s a sick game they play.
I just did some looking around. It sure seems like we are paying for the Iron Dome instead of just allowing Israel access to the needed materials. If I’m wrong about that, I hope someone corrects me.
Anyway, this is just nuts. Allow Israel access to all the technology and materials that they need. But the United States is a debtor nation. We cannot be throwing money around like this. (Yes, I know we spend money on much worse things.)
This is how great empires go broke.
Some details here:
Because in the negotiations leading to the Hamas-Israel peace treaty the US, though not a signatory, offered and agreed to resupply Israel’s depletion of interseptors and to provide financial aid to Hamas and the Palestinian Authority.
Most all foreign aid by the US for Israel is in the form of loan guarantees -— not direct aid.
BTW, the Iron Dome was developed by a partnership of Israel and the US. We have benefited greatly from that research.
I assume that since a billion $$$ were authorized by the House for Iron Dome munitions replenishment that the US is paying for it. The US transfers several billion $$$ per year to Israel for military aid so this is nothing new.
There’s a lot of military technology sharing between Israel and the US. Re. Iron Dome specifically, the US was considering Iron Dome for the Army several years ago. Extensive testing on US ranges. In the end, the US decided to develop a home grown system. I imagine the US’s system has though a very healthy dose of Iron Dome tech in it.
Hey...Israel could fork over a few hundred billion of that 3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas they found as return payment for all the hardware we gave them over the years. We’ll liquify it for ourselves and bring it back here.( I guess technically they are “buying” the iron dome system but somehow my wallet seems emptier for it).
