Isn’t this the place where if there was a massive landslide due to a seismic event (maybe a volcano) it could cause a large Tsunami on the East Coast of the United States?

The natives were actually thought to have settled there in Roman times, the the islands were forgotten about until the Portuguese rediscovered them in the 14th or 15th century. (I think that is the history there)

I KNOW! We’ll create and distribute an infectious VIRUS worldwide to get rid of most of the humans. China is red
Soylent is green
They want us all dead
So COVID-19

Correct…
I just finished a novel thriller a la Clive Cussler style, where the volcano there went off big time. The entire western side of the island slid off as there is in real life a huge fault line in this island.
The hero of our story is a geologist and he predicted the volume of the slide to be 15 cubic km and would cause a tsunami from the Caribe all the way up the eastern seaboard to Nova Scotia that would go miles inland!
He saved the day in the end.

The Potomac should funnel the tsunami to the center of what once was a perfectly good swamp that got turned into an open sewer, and flush it away.
I will mourn the Smithsonian, though.

Interesting. One of the things about this theory of a large Tsunami being created is that I don’t think there is any geological evidence for large Tsunamis in the Atlantic Ocean. For one thing I believe a Tsunami’s power is deep below the wave which would be absorbed or lessened by the Mid-Atlantic ridge system.

I wonder how many gas powered car trips to the local store, would equal 5 minutes of a volcano eruption?
