Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
Bible in a Year:
[Jesus said], “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
What prompted him to climb the tree? Tax collectors were perceived as traitors because they heavily taxed their own people to serve the Roman Empire. Yet Jesus had a reputation for accepting them. Zacchaeus might have wondered if Jesus would accept him too. Being short in stature, however, he couldn’t see over the crowd (v. 3). Perhaps he climbed a tree to seek Him out.
And Jesus was seeking Zacchaeus too. When Christ reached the tree where he was perched, He looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today” (v. 5). Jesus considered it absolutely necessary that He be a guest in this outcast’s home. Imagine that! The Savior of the world wanting to spend time with a social reject.
Whether it’s our hearts, relationships, or lives that need mending, like Zacchaeus we can have hope. Jesus will never reject us when we turn to Him. He can restore what’s been lost and broken and give our lives new meaning and purpose.
Reflect & Pray
What relationships in your life can Jesus help restore? What will it mean for you to be restored by Him?
Jesus, thank You for seeking me when I was lost in sin and for redeeming my messed-up life.
“Rickenbacker was adamantly opposed to President Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal policies, seeing them as little better than socialism. For this, he drew criticism and ire from the press and the Roosevelt administration, which ordered NBC Radio not to allow him to broadcast opinions critical of Roosevelt’s policies after Rickenbacker had harshly denounced the president’s decision to rescind existing mail contracts in 1934 and have Army Air Corps pilots carry the air mail.”

Looks like an early version of de-platforming.
Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...you and Blue today, or you and BB King?
Thanks for posting, by the way. I never knew a lot of the details about Rickenbacker’s life.
Although there were thunderstorms last night, the weather was beautiful today. So I took a little ride, and then later on, sang at an open-mike.
So it was a little of both! :-)
Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
You and Mrs Mayor rested and ready to take on the new week?
His son William F. Rickenbacker was an early supporter and editor of National Review and Barry Goldwater.
I read “Seven Came Through” when I was in grade school. It probably isn’t even allowed to be in the library now.
Incredible life, incredible story, thanks for honoring tonight’s Hero, Kathy!
Eddie Rickenbacker was a genuine American hero. A patriot. And he epitomized the American way of doing things.
If anyone wants to find out more about Eddie Rickenbacker, I strongly suggest the book “The Aviators: Eddie Rickenbacker, Jimmy Doolittle, Charles Lindbergh, and the Epic Age of Flight” by Edward Groom.
I am an aviation enthusiast (read: fanatic!) and this book talks about those three aviators in depth.
Best aviation book I have read in some years.
Thank you for starting this thread, Kathy in Alaska!

In the epilogue of his 1963 autobiography, in one paragraph Rickenbacker predicted the internet, Amazon and fed-ex
Eddie Rickenbacker and The Hat in the Ring squadron. He was quite a man. Later president of Eastern Airlines and survived a crash of one of Eastern’s planes. Also survived crashing into the Pacific and being adrift for over one month during WW II.
Evening, Kathy! (sigh) last day of summer
