I think to make your point you should not have characterized the entire event as a riot.
For example
“...and made it sound like it was support for any vandalism or sparring with police that may have occurred”.
Would be a lot more accurate.
Don’t use the media and democrat narrative. You do their work for them with terms such as “the riot itself”.
It was in no ways a riot.
I spent 4 or 5 hours nonstop watching the riot on several stations, moving from one station to another. I kept wondering when the National Guard troops already in town were going to be released to help the Capitol police who were getting the stuffing kicked out of them. Over 100 were hurt and some are still recovering from their injuries.
A couple weeks ago I heard a report on possible fate of the arrested. It appears that several hundred who wandered in after the doors and windows had been broken out will get misdemeanor charges and probably serve no time. Maybe fines and community service. This if they were only walking around and looking, not disrespecting government property or personal property left behind when Congresspeople fled. They will go a lot harder on the people who actually were hitting police or using bear spray or tazers on them or actually were filmed breaking and entering or wounding the over 100 police who are still recovering from their injuries.

Having seen nearly 100 videos shot by participants and media (of the 500 or so that have been archived and are online as I speak, which anyone can look at), as well as Law Enforcement cameras, there is no other word for it, if one is in possession of one's own mental capacities, than to describe this event as a "riot". So what is the cogent argument to the contrary of this? I for one would like to hear it.

But people were arrested for parading.
