Rand Paul deserves credit for questioning authority
Washington Examiner ^ | Sep 16 | by Christopher Tremoglie

Given the biased media coverage, it is safe to say many people would not have a favorable impression of Sen. Rand Paul. He was censored by YouTube for providing scientific studies about the efficacy of masks that rebutted prevailing liberal orthodoxy. But when presented with the facts, he might legitimately be one of the most competent officeholders we have.

Paul accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of mishandling the coronavirus pandemic and not being truthful about funding expenditures. Fauci and Paul have had multiple contentious exchanges during hearings in the Senate. Many Democrats and other left-wing pundits accused Paul of being ill-informed and wrong. Yet recent reports show that Paul was correct in his assessment of Fauci's honesty.

Recently, Paul was questioning Secretary of State Antony Blinken over whether a U.S. drone strike killed an intended ISIS-K target or an innocent aid worker. Blinken was unable to confirm the identity of the target.

“So, you don’t know or won’t tell us?” Paul asked Blinken.

“I don’t know because we’re reviewing it,” Blinken answered.

“You’d think you’d kind of know before you off someone,” Paul said in his exchange with Blinken. The accidental assassination of an innocent aid worker would severely compound the atrocious execution of the Afghanistan pullout and damage our international reputation. Such a grave error, Paul pointed out, it could lead to retaliation. "Maybe you’ve created hundreds or thousands of new potential terrorists from bombing the wrong people,” he said.

In the end, Blinken’s response does not appear truthful. It should be easy enough to confirm whether an aid worker is dead or alive.

Whatever one’s opinion of Paul, he deserves credit in his efforts to find out the truth, even when lots of people just don't want to hear it. He is right to question authority and to question the public's overreliance on dishonest authorities for information.

Why aren’t all the pubs “questioning authority’?

I agree he deserves a lot of credit for doing that multiple times.

But I still think he’s a kook and a son of a kook.
And I don’t trust him.

Still I think he adds some unique and needed qualities to Congress.

Maybe they are RINOs, playing for the other side.

Why aren’t more Americans questioning authority?

Rand Paul; is tru;ly a patriot. He would make an exce;l;ent Head of the NIH. But in terms of higher office, he cannot be a Team Player. Paul is a renegade by nature, a good renegade.
People like him are much needed. But he would not make a good VP pr President. I certaiinly admire and thank rand Paul though.

He keeps honesty as a basic necessity for his political adversaries. both Rinos and Leftists/// Rubio and Cruz also have this dynamic happening as well, but not to such an extent as Paul, who has literally put his life on the line at times. He has been physically attacked by radicals several times, had his ribs broken by a leftist neighbor, almost been cancelled outside of the Republkican Convention by ANTIFA. I wish he would be like Rick Perry and carry his own side arm.

Thanks for the link...I am glad he has protection. He’s a good man.Truthto tell, we could use a few more like him.

I hope he supports President Trump, thats the ticket we need to dig ourselves out from under the piles of crap brought on by the Marxist traitors who now occupy the White Hut.

Because they are the authorities!!!

Whether or not they are in a leadership role, they are still "the government" and as such are committed to the retention of its power...Constitution be damned!!

> He can not be a team player.

There need to be a lot more non “team players” like Rand.

If sufficiently and consistently exposed, large parts of federal government programs and practices would collapse from internal contradictions. Keep plugging away until it becomes obvious even to street people.

Rubio is definitely compromised by the "Play Ball" majority on the hill with his consistent backing for amnesty for illegal aliens. Cruz has been cutting a fine line like a sailboat balancing tide and wind (what's right versus the Hill's corrupt majority) but seems motivated by patriotism. Rand is the loose cannon free-thinking reminder to all that our Founders' vision was never meant for two parties to ever dominate the intended process of our republic.

Cruz would be a good president with his photographic memory if backed with a good staff; not beholden to anti-Americans like Pretend-esident is.
