Gov. Gavin Newsom signed three housing-related bills into law Thursday that are likely to make multi-family housing projects easier to build and could open up many single-family zones to development.
Senate Bill 8 extends until 2030 the Housing Crisis Act of 2019, which “accelerates the approval process for housing projects, curtails local governments’ ability to downzone and limits fee increases on housing applications,”
Senate Bill 9 “facilitates the process for homeowners to build a duplex or split their current residential lot,”
In practice, the bill will “require cities to approve up to four housing units on what was a single-family lot,” according to the Associated Press.
Senate Bill 10 makes it easier for local governments to rezone areas near transit centers for multifamily housing of up to 10 units per parcel.

What a nightmare.
There’s also the Rangel method.
The NYC congressmen got one apartment and his wife got an adjacent one and they combined them to get lots of space in NYC.
More affluent whites could do something similar anywhere in the USA. If there’s an unpleasant tenant, give notice, rebuild a wall and move.
Not even close
Little houses on the hillside and they’re all made if Ricky tacky and all just the same
Something’s gotta give. That’s the scary part.
I do not wish to go to Pruitt-Igoe.
It’s an old school shoe smacking good time in Khrushchyovka.
Racism! Some of those buildings are arranged to form the “SS” symbol...:-P
If I still lived in CA this alone would be enough to make me exit. I’d liquidate and bail fast.
“Making the single family home in California even more expensive”
Very few will get built in metropolitan areas of the state from now on.
Rowhouse construction in Manhattan pretty much ended around 120 years ago.
I had family living in Fresno about 20 yrs ago......they moved to Pa and for a time regretted it...until they visited Fresno a few years later and see what California is now and they’re so happy they didn’t go back!
Gonna have to hope Cali makes enough of them to house at least half of mexico so less will come east lolz
The family is probably heavily invested in companies that build apartments.
I was headed to Coral Gables, Florida one weekend many years ago.
In Miami, the single family houses often had about four cars parked in front.
As soon as I got to Coral Gables proper, that sight was not seen.
The control freaks running CA have been eyeing these endless suburban neighborhoods in S. CA for many years. Leftist have said it should be a crime to put 1 home on a 75x75’ footprint of land. The leftist say they’re land hoarders!
In S. CA they all but ran out of room from the ocean to the mountains and beyond and they want to double or triple the population in these neighborhoods.
The suburban leftists and leftist Karens are about to get what they voted for.
The Karens will get what they deserve.
