Let’s suppose for a moment that Ike had called Rommel up and promised to give him advance warning if the allies attempted to cross the channel. Would that be somewhere between treason and dereliction of duty our would it just be flat out treason? Asking for a friend.

Apparently, he also told other military leaders that if the President gave them orders, that they were not to act on the orders until they checked with him first.

He ordered them to ignore the President’s orders.

THAT smells like a coup to me.

(and Milley wasn’t even in their chain of command. All those guys report to the SECDEF, not him)

Exactly right It is flat out treason. I would also like to ask General Milley and his military defenders what the chain of command on communicating with an adversary is? Is it only top generals that can reassure the enemy or can any rank do it?
