Exactly right It is flat out treason. I would also like to ask General Milley and his military defenders what the chain of command on communicating with an adversary is? Is it only top generals that can reassure the enemy or can any rank do it?
This never came out publicly at the time but after Afghanistan I thought it was a little extreme for nations like Britain to come out with statement from prominent leaders about how they could not rely on the USA and needed to basically divorce their defense strategies from us.
Now it makes sense. This man did immense damage both through this phone call and in his botching of Afghanistan. Perhaps irreversible damage.
