The Democrats’ $3.5 trillion infrastructure bill would break President Joe Biden’s pledge not to increase taxes on working-class Americans.
The Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) found that the House Ways and Means Committee’s portion of the $3.5 trillion infrastructure bill would increase taxes on Americans making over $50,000 or more per year in the calendar year 2031, according to a Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) report.
The JCT’s analysis of the infrastructure bill would serve as a significant break from Biden’s promise not to raise taxes on Americans making less than $400,000 per year.
“The President remains committed to his pledge from the campaign that nobody making under $400,000 a year will have their taxes increased,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in March. Psaki clarified that this figure applies to families, not individuals, but the infrastructure plan would still raise taxes on most Americans.
The JCT analysis even found that the proposal would increase taxes on Americans in calendar year 2027 for those making between $30,000 to $40,000 per year.
The House Ways and Means Republicans noted many of the ways that the Democrat proposal would subsidize American families making more than $800,000 annually:

They knew when they were voting for the $1.2 trillion they were enabling the bigger, worse one.
It hurts the wealthy too. The only people whom it doesn’t hurt are those with negative assets. Debt will be decreased by inflation. Savings will also be decreased by inflation.
If a politicians mouth is moving, they are lying, deceiving, or deflecting.
Politicians, all talk, no action for their constituents, or the nation.

Poly= many, Tics’= blood sucking parasites.
Time to reconsider my plan for a shallow exponential flat tax.
Instead of 3 or 4 tiers, there would be a single tier applying to EVERYONE but slowly gets higher for higher income people.
It would be something like
Tax = 10% * [Income]^1/05
Congress could set the shallow exponential to whatever they decide, perhaps every 5 years. And the flat tax coefficient should be straightforward like the 10% I show.
As people make more income, they pay more taxes as part of their ‘burden’. But the increase is so slow that it becomes less noticeable, especially since it is so easy to calculate. No bracket bumping...

Can’t argue with your point at all. In fact, you’ve motivated me to sit down with my wife tonight and list out all the things we can do to decrease unnecessary spending. Not because we’re hurting (thank God), but because it’s irresponsible to not do this.
