Census: Income down, but COVID-19 stimulus prevented widespread poverty
The Hill ^ | 09/14/2021 | Reid Wilson

The number of Americans living in poverty increased for the first time in five years in 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic cost millions of Americans jobs and income, the U.S. Census Bureau said Tuesday.

But federal stimulus payments approved by Congress and the Trump administration helped keep more than 5 million Americans out of poverty, the bureau said.

Last year, 11.4 percent of Americans — or 37.2 million people — were living in poverty, a threshold that stands at $26,246 in yearly income for a family of four. That share was up 1 percent, or 3.3 million people, over the previous year.

Ho, hum. The politicization of the Census is obvious.

You’d think there would be a lot of sore toes from repeatedly kicking that monstrously large can down the road.

More BS from the Lying Left.

The government, the CAUSE of the problem to begin with, loves to take credit when they even commit MORE criminal acts (unconstitutional acts of the feds=criminal) boosting inflation with the idiotic “free” handouts and provoking many to simply not go to work.

The Hill is a piece of poo and Reid Wilson is shoveling it.

All fine and supposedly good, but Covid did not produce the crisis of confidence from which came the idea for the stimulus; the unnecessary lock downs did that. Minus the lock downs, Covid or no Covid, there was no crisis causing the reach for the stimulus.

Apparently the economies were already over stimulated (inflated with negative interest rates) so they had to reduce demand - the lock downs. But then the lock downs took so much incomes away, they “needed” the “stimulus”, but the “stimulus” was not targeted to merely make up for lost incomes, it was massive and general, going to nearly everyone, thus reigniting the hyper inflation again.

So now they need more Covid variants and more lock downs, again, to try to again reduce demand.

They started a vicious cycle they can’t get everyone out of.

There’s a legislative threshhold that defines “poverty” as income below a certain amount.

We need additional legislation such that this number is adjusted correctly whenever the currency is diluted.

Wait. A couple of $1200 stimulus payments hardly raise anyone out of poverty. Maybe they already have CBD oil in the food where this clown lives.

More like delayed widespread poverty.

~~~
Delay is S.O.P.
We’ve been racking up debt for generations. When we finally have to start printing enough money to devalue the loans, it will decimate our standard of living. Poverty delayed is power retained
You beat me to it. You’re right, debt just time shifts the burden, doesn’t solve it.
It wasn't the "pandemic" that cost millions of Americans their jobs and income. IT WAS THE FCKN GOVERNMENT AND PETTY TYRANTS!
Anyone among us that hasn’t gotten completely out of debt, is living BELOW their means and doing all they can to work towards some level of self-sufficiency is a total dope.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; “’We The People’ are 100% on our own.”
Plan accordingly, FRiends.
Postponed widespread poverty. The only thing that stimulus did was make it so the poverty would look like it was not caused by covid being so far separated in time.
